England v Pakistan 3rd Test thread

I can't remember the last time a Test match started on a Friday rather than the usual Thursday - anyone know why it didn't start today?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

It's because they're playing back to back Tests. Personally I don't think they need 3 days instead of 2 days to fully recover but there you go. The fact that the last Test finished so early actually means they've had longer off.

I may have some spares for the 4th day if anyone's interested.
rnm is funny, funny like funny haha.

    Goals 2006/7 (CS, PL, CL)
1: Agger, Bellamy, Fowler, Alonso, Garcia
    2: Gonzalez, Kuyt, Riise
    5: Crouch

plus Ian Bell is finally making that spot his own. Vaughan will struggle to return.

I think Vaughan's finished, England-wise anyway. There's enough talent developing (Cook...and Bell is finally flourishing) to more than cover for his absence.

Which wouldn't be that much of a shock.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Knowing the Headingley wicket like the back of my hand I'd say there is plenty left in this particular wicket.

this match is not over yet although a draw looks most likely

I hope your right. There is nothing worse than watching test match cricket wind down when both sides know that a result will not be obtained.

Fingers crossed for an England win though!

Nope, I don't think it's nailed on. If England bat for 4 sessions and then put Pakistan in at lunch on the 5th day, it's game on.

this pitch will change around lunchtime tomorrow, there will be variable bounce which Harmisson will be able to exploit IF he bowls well and also Monty will thrive on the last day.

I have to admit, it's unlikely that Harmisson will bowl well enough as he struggles at Headingley but you never know. It's also not impossible that Pakistan could bowl us out quickly tomorrow when the pitch changes.

Hope you're right mate but I couldn't see us bowling them out in two afternoon sessions, if it came to that.

I am minded to agree with Dan. I think the Pakistan bowling will be a lot less rubbish than it was in the first innings.
