:handshake: I really like him. Great player. Just difficult to find a starting spot for him in a Klopp 4-3-3 (possibly not so much the formation - more the way Klopp demands his players play).

SB 08-11-20 11:48 AM

He’s a fantastic player with the ability to play the killer passes like Thiago to unlock packed defences.

True. Would you start him against City?

frank the tank 08-11-20 12:33 PM

Can't believe we are 27/10 to win. Even though we are missing important players, that still seems generous odds. Especially when you consider how good we looked in our last game

:handshake: yeah he's not that versatile which seems a massive thing for Klopp. A very specific player that plays in a very specific position. I do think Klopp will start Keita, time will tell if that is a good decision or not.

Shaggy 08-11-20 02:56 PM

No idea where it's coming from but seeing people discuss 'rumours' that all four forwards start in a 4231. If true - a big if - that would scare me a bit. A midfield 2 hasn't worked particularly well for us and you'd think we'd get overrun in the middle?

I'll be happier with a 433 and whoever Klopp prefers from Bobby or Jota.

dom9 08-11-20 03:00 PM

I think I'd settle for a draw today. A win would be massive. A defeat would put City within overtaking distance with their game in hand.

Impossible to call.

Fredo 08-11-20 03:10 PM

Would be a very tight game. City will be all out to make up that gap or at least, not allow it to grow bigger. Wed have to be at close to our best to beat them I think. I also think Bobby will start that one, with Matip back in defence.

Shaggy 08-11-20 03:11 PM

This is the most nervous I've been about a game for ages.

Buzzo 08-11-20 03:11 PM

First goal is normally massive in these games.

Same - it could define so much going forward. Win without VVD and its a massive statement and confidence boost for the team - it also creates a fear factor for other sides. A bad loss could impact negatively in all the ways above.

I have no idea how this will go and no result would surprise me given City are not fully at it either. The idea of being wide open in midfield is a worry however because this lot can exploit any space

We have made a habit of conceding first recently.

I can see an open game, but suspect they will be too mobile for our defense to contain.

Fredo 08-11-20 03:29 PM

Man City vs Liverpool - Premier League (20/21 - Game 8)

City are little less potent (or have been up to now) going forward this season. They might be more solid defensively with the arrival of Dias, but early days. Ive seen them struggle to contain West Ham on the counter but they did well generally.

Well need to be precise in midfield and be wary of their press and counter press. Any mistake and well be found out. Having said that, its practically impossible to maintain that kind of concentration levels against this lot.

I think there is no good option for that third midfielder so sort of makes sense to put Jota in the team instead.

I'd hope its a much more solid 4411 than having the two midfielders isolated.

kev776 08-11-20 03:46 PM

Jota -Bobby-Salah Mane

-----Keita-Hendo

Robbo-Gomez-Matip-TAA

bang on the nail again.

Bobby in midfield?

I'd expect
-----------Becker
Trent- Matip - Gomez -Robertson
--Salah - Hendo- Gini- Mane
-----------Bobby
-----------Jota

With Mane/Salah getting on the ball a lot deeper and helping out the fullbacks a lot more.

Yeah, it's a weird season, it could be any result from us winning at a canter or them hammering us like Villa.

At the end of the day, it's only three points though, and it's not the title decider it could've been in the last few seasons (or basically two years ago).

I watched last year's game on my own in a tiny Best Western hotel bar in the Californian desert. Bit of a difference this year :haha:

Would be surprised if Gini didn't start

Last match I was at Anfield for and was surprised it was only a year ago, feels much longer.

Definitely will be longer before I ever get to another game. :sigh:

A penny for the thoughts of City's back four right now :D

Defence has a solid look to it.

City will have no idea how we line up. And neither will we supporters.

Shaggy 08-11-20 04:33 PM

I feel sick and there's an hour to go ffs

kingfunk 08-11-20 04:33 PM

4222 *scratches head*

spud_gun 08-11-20 04:34 PM

Jurgen plopping his big balls on to the table with that team selection

Good to have Matip back. Surely it'll be 4-2-3-1 with Bobby in the hole? Then some fluidity with who is the 9 and who goes up wide. Can't see any other way that would make sense. I hope that Mane and Jota switch up front and Salah stays on the right, personally.

Shaggy 08-11-20 04:35 PM

Surely it's a 4231 with Bobby at the tip of a midfield three ish. He'll have to drop right in and work his absolute bollocks off but I'm just not convinced at all.

kingfunk 08-11-20 04:36 PM

We are either going to score 6 or concede 6..

baitman 08-11-20 04:38 PM

Bobby in the hole.
