Were you self isolating?

Sounds like you way ahead of things!

I reckon it'll be Firmino at the tip of midfield

And interchange up top between the three, particularly with Salah and Jota.

It'll be a rollercoaster. :pop:

Remember when we used to batter them? The last few games where he's gone Milner-Gini-Hendo we've looked pretty blunt and overly-reliant on the front three doing something brilliant. I like this approach. Imagine being a City player looking at that team - if they are stupid enough to fancy themselves against us then that's exactly what we want

Watch us lose now :D

Remember when we thought Klopp played it too safe against the other half of Manchester. Fucking Hell, we'll not be able to say that, at least.

Exiled_red 08-11-20 04:54 PM

It's a certainly an attacking side with the front 4. I don't mind that my main concern is that Matip can come in and be up to speed.

Really nervous now.

Fredo 08-11-20 04:56 PM

442 and same formation we played vs Sheffield I reckon.

Fredo 08-11-20 05:05 PM

Man City vs Liverpool - Premier League (20/21 - Game 8)

It could be a diamond with Mo at the tip, Sadio and Diogo either side with Bobby in the hole.

memzey 08-11-20 05:07 PM

Not convinced by this at all. I was nervous about the game beforehand but now have a really bad feeling. This change in shape/emphasis will be more helpful for them than us (unless we blitz them and I don’t see that happening). Hope I’m wrong but from the outside it looks like we bottled the Firmino/Jota decision.

jonnygrunter 08-11-20 05:13 PM

We got to just trust in klopp. He’s not been wrong that often! Come on the redmen!!!

Bottled? There were 3 options and he went for the most exciting one. Regardless of outcome, hardly fair to say he bottled anything.

Fredo 08-11-20 05:14 PM

It gives them more to worry about and is less predictable. Surely itís not a bad thing as both teams know each other well. Sometimes weíve got to try to evolve.

RedReet 08-11-20 05:17 PM

Think Carra makes a fair point, we've lost last 3 times here with full strength 433, so why not try something different.

:haha: It wasn't isolated, we were in Palm Springs which is heavily populated.

Fredo 08-11-20 05:20 PM

Also, 433 is very demanding for the midfield as theyíve got to shift sideways a lot. Against City itís harder. 442, whether itís a diamond or a more traditional formation, allows us to cover defensive areas better. Whether that works weíll see pretty soon.

It's a difficult game regardless.

My worry is if they beat the press it's going to be a nightmare for Henderson and Wijnaldum. It also means we don't have much to come on if things aren't going well in the final 20 minutes.

I think the big defeats after project restart might mean Klopp things "fuck it, let's try and blitz them".

Itís going to be more defensive than you think IMO.

dizzycat 08-11-20 05:25 PM

This is going to be fun. Jota adds a fair bit of hornet like aggression and something different. He is a goal poacher and while they can prepare for the other three, Jota is another story.

baitman 08-11-20 05:25 PM

Bobby as the advanced midfielder will allow us an option of playing through the middle easier and unlocking their defence when they sit back.

I have been hoping for this change for ages as it plays to firmino's strengths.

They won't know if we're coming down the flank or straight through them.
Bobby coming in late for the second balls, it sounds ace

Not sure if it makes a massive difference tactically in all honesty. We've been playing with Jones for the last few matches, obviously Bobby will be higher up the pitch than Jones operated but it's not like Jones offered a huge amount defensively.

Our other options weren't obvious for me. Naby has just come back to fitness, Jones for me is a bit inexperienced for this fixture and Milner hasn't been the best lately.

Much better options than City.

Super sub Origi, genius Shaq, Keita and Jones for midfield.

City have Foden and an out of form Silva.
