This is it!

This is the big one. The decider. The marker of the season.

This is the game that dictates whether we're genuine title challengers, the mentality monsters that devour any situation, any pressure, any scoreline with the aim of putting another three points between us and the current league champions.

We're ready. It's due. This. Is. It.

I would start AOC with Fab and Gini, but I think Henderson will start.

Buzzo 06-11-19 01:34 PM

I’d walk away with a point right now.

A win would be insane though. They have Chelsea the following week. If we can get 4-6 points from the next 2 games then we have put ourselves in an incredible position.

I'd take a point all day long, but still keep thinking we're due a game where we just 'click' and it all falls into place. Not had one of those in a long while... That, plus the fact Salah is back to looking sharp but just not really found his shooting boots... could it all come together on Sunday and we roll them over with a high press, high energy, take the lead early and then capitalise on them having to come at us...

Maybe. Just maybe....

We're probably also due a game when our luck runs out.

I very much hope it's not on Sunday.

frank the tank 06-11-19 03:56 PM

I think whoever scores first on Sunday will be in a brilliant position. I just hope that it doesn't take us a half an hour to get going. If we hit the ground running with the power of Anfield behind us, then we could make a huge statement. If Liverpool score first, then with our disciplined midfield and quick transition, I think we could hit them on the counter attack and f##k them right up.

I actually think that Pep would take a draw right now. He will bank on the fact that our trip to Qatar and fixture pile up will mean that his squad can catch us on the final straight.

I also think that Klopp would be okay with a draw. He will think "6 point lead and look at our league fixtures for the next 5 or 6 weeks"

The_weatherman 06-11-19 04:11 PM

I reckon we will see our usual midfield for this one. They will have to work really hard and not give KDB any time at all on the ball, could see Ox coming on in the second half when it opens up a bit more.

We really need the win IMO, they will see the games against us a key to turn this around, if they get four points from our games they will be hopeful for their easy run in.

Mr Pink 06-11-19 05:08 PM

I think a draw wouldn’t be a bad result, but... I feel like everything is in our favor this year- we played at home on Tuesday, they play away on Wednesday, they have a lot of injury concerns, and their position in the table, puts all the pressure to win on them. The fact it’s a must win for them, combined with their defense being shite could mean we smash them..

Going into the game they’ll likely be in 4th place- with us having already beat the teams in 2nd and 3rd... we should be confident!

Also a shout out to Leicester- they’re 2 points behind city after already playing Liverpool, chelsea and United all away!

Wildly optimistic this :D

They were incredible against us this time last year, I expect them to be at that level again. Absolutely no chance of us "smashing" them to be honest.

I think it'll be incredibly close, my main worry is a bad refereeing decision or VAR fucking us over. Aside from that whoever is most clinical will take it.

Shitting myself already :shake:

Agreed they were incredible last year against us- but was under different circumstances. It was 4 days after our tough away game to Napoli, and the week before we had a tough away game to Chelsea.. I expect us to have a bit more in the tank this year.

And I don’t think they will be at the same level this year- attacking yes, they are still very very dangerous. But their defense has been average this year. And given the circumstances, they will have to go for it, hopefully leaving their weak defense exposed.

I probably am being over optimistic, but I think we couldn’t ask for better circumstances to play them. Not only are they 6 points behind, but the only tough game they’ve had on paper was spurs at home, which they drew. We already played spurs, arsenal, chelsea, United and Leicester... and are 6 points ahead!! All I’m saying is we should be confident in our team (I’m still gonna be nervous as hell on Sunday).

Zapater 06-11-19 07:19 PM

It's not negative, obviously everyone wants to win and the way our gameplan is implemented I believe we set up to try to win every game. We do however need to treat these fixtures against City like a cup tie. Wins are great, but we can't afford to lose and if we do, we need need to return the favour in the corresponding fixture.

baitman 06-11-19 07:36 PM

Crucial we dont ball watch as they are another level above oher clubs and we have often allowed ourselves to be either drawn out wide or been ball watching and missed the late runner.

Aguero is often the guy who will play around the edge of the box and draw the defender.
If he isnt closed down he will take a shot, but close him down and he will lay it off and then arrive in the middle at the goal area for the tap in.
He needs his foot standing on.

Mr Pink 06-11-19 07:43 PM

A few career-threatening injuries tonight would be class [emoji57]

Liverpool 06-11-19 08:43 PM

I reckon they'd be more pleased with a draw than us. We need to go for their throats, they've got injuries and an unsettled side at the moment.

6 points wont worry them given they'll definitely have a better GD than us and the chance to do us at the Eithad so they'd only need to slightly better us the rest of the season by 1 result.

3 third season on the bounce for us, think the post Qatar period could kill us with some awkward fixtures. They have a better squad to stay the course than us.

So get it up to 9 points and then into double digitals and kill their morale whilst we tour the country as champions elect.:rock:

labourRed 06-11-19 09:33 PM

Injuries or not they are a great side. Watching them now, they press high and play against an offside trap very well.

The best variable we have is its at home and they don't fare well there. We should go all out for the win IMO. I also wouldn't discount the likes of Leicester in the title race, they're playing the best football in the league at the moment.

Liverpool 06-11-19 09:40 PM

Leicester and Chelsea are in it for now just like Spurs last year but only two teams are capable of and will be getting 90+ points

Shaggy 06-11-19 10:05 PM

Ederson subbed off at half-time. Must be injured. :haha:

Unless it's stupid mind games?!

foresterbloke 06-11-19 10:09 PM

Atalanta just scored a goal that our forwards and full backs must be licking their lips at seeing.

foresterbloke 06-11-19 10:10 PM

Haha Fernandinho got caught blatantly tripping up an Atalanta player.

Norbs 06-11-19 10:11 PM

Claudio Bravo concedes straight away

Buzzo 06-11-19 10:31 PM

I haven’t watched City live in ages, they look massively ordinary here.

foresterbloke 06-11-19 10:39 PM

Bravo sent off :haha: :haha:

labourRed 06-11-19 10:40 PM

:haha: :haha: :haha:

foresterbloke 06-11-19 10:41 PM

To be honest, it was a blatant dive, surely the attacker could have skipped the challenge and scored? This is far more entertaining though :D

Buzzo 06-11-19 10:42 PM

Kyle Walker in nets :haha:

foresterbloke 06-11-19 10:43 PM

Kyle Walker going in goal - billion dollar squad and Kyle fucking Walker is going in goal.

Buzzo 06-11-19 10:44 PM

Fucking hell. This is taking ages.

They are not likely to have 2 keepers on the bench to be fair.

Buzzo 06-11-19 10:46 PM

Bravo was sent off on 80.

That took 7 mins.

Buzzo 06-11-19 10:55 PM

Atalanta were better when it was 11 v 11.

foresterbloke 06-11-19 10:56 PM

Looks like it will be a draw but how rattled are City!

danperkins 06-11-19 11:00 PM

Teams just do not attack City enough. They looked petrified when teams go at them, only way to play against them At least City got a tough game tonight. Wonder how bad Edersons injury is?

Will Ederson miss the game against Liverpool?

Guardiola: "I don't know right now."

BigChief 07-11-19 12:23 AM

They look so poor defensively against one-old-man Illic with simple balls over the top. And he's as fast as a tractor. Mendy was woeful defensively, is Zinchenko fit? Walker coming back in might help a little. And if that sentence has to be said out loud then you know you got 99 problems. :haha:

I reckon Pep is going full ret... I mean full defensive on Sunday. Expect Bernado to run 15k again as right wing back. Sit back and hope for an impossible angled worldie from Aguero or something to defend.

Bravo
Bernado Walker Ferna Otamendi Sterling
Mahrez Rodri Gundo KdB
Aguero
