Instructions will have been given to the players. Clearly Hendo is being asked to bring the ball out from the back and Phillips will have been given his much like VVD or Gomez etc..

So what were klopps instructions to williams then... :stir:

Another good game. City will probably rip him a new one but pretty much the rest of the league are cloggers. He can play against clodders all day long.

Probably play your game and keep it simple. Who knows though

Just keep things simple and heís fine.

Just need to use him when we can play to his strengths.

:handshake: That header to clear that West Ham freekick was outstanding

Roboklopp 31-01-21 08:55 PM

Can’t ask any more tbh. Fair fucking play.

Montana 31-01-21 09:24 PM

Faultless performance today. Seems to have improved his positioning and his use of the ball too. Well done lad.

He's filling in admirably well.

Big-Red-Ed 31-01-21 09:27 PM

As others have said I would far rather play Nat than Williams.

Faultless.....hmmm

Donít get me wrong he had a great game. However, their goal came from him ducking under the corner, due to his timing and not reading the ball speed correctly

Barnie7 31-01-21 09:29 PM

if you watch carefully..Robbo flicks the ball on over his head

:handshake: Yep, Nat was about to clear that away but it skimmed off Robbo's head lifting it just over him

Really. I completely missed that. On the replays I was just focusing on Phillips going under the ball

baitman 31-01-21 10:19 PM

So where does this leave poor Sepp van den Berg.

Hes going to Preston on loan, unless he becomes a monster you'd have to think its over for him.

Fivex 31-01-21 10:20 PM

Did it ever actually start for him?*

*rhetorical question

BigChief 31-01-21 10:20 PM

Owned Antonio today. Didn't back out from any headers and Antonio realised this so backed off from competing himself. Third in line motm for me.

Buzzo 31-01-21 10:25 PM

He’s not put a foot wrong really when called upon. Definitely helps him having Hendo talking him through the match.

He’s getting better with matches isn’t he. Long may the upward spiral continue

He's still only 19, he seems way down the pecking order at the moment, loan would be good experience for him, probably needs another season long loan after this before we can judge him properly IMO, defenders take a while to mature.

Will make a good squad player, does all the basics right and seemingly isn't made of glass.
Like a new signing.

Edit: sorry, thought you were talking about the goal.

You really blame him for that?

Slinky Skills 03-02-21 10:58 PM

Rough as fuck isn't she haha!

vlahka 04-02-21 12:01 AM

Thought he was pretty solid today. Did plenty of great things.

Another really positive game for him, But he is bench material at best for Liverpool; so shows exactly how we are suffering without £££££ to constantly invest.

We are losing games because we cant score at the xmas office party and theres a free bar, not because of our makeshift defence.

Paul12 22-02-21 08:14 PM

A bump because I didn't like that we seemed to be talking about everyone but him.

I thought he did OK against Everton. The one possible blackmark was the second goal, but he did no worse in that play than several others.

baitman 01-03-21 01:15 PM

Decent.

danperkins 01-03-21 01:25 PM

Thought he was very good vs Sheff. Solid, nothing spectacular, no nonsense and has his limitations but reads the game well & is a battler. His physical presence is very welcome in certain games, whether or not he is good enough to be a mainstay in the squad is up for debate. At the moment I would have him as a starter every week at CB ahead of the rest.

Slinky Skills 01-03-21 01:44 PM

I really like him and don't think he's getting enough praise. The only thing he did wrong was he got too tight to Ollie Burke near the line and ended up being rolled, he's been impressive I think though and he's solid too, really aggressive.

Given how uncertain the availability of gomez and matip is then imagine how solid a pairing of philips and vvd would be.
Its never been more clear that having a squad isnt the safeguard it should be when many of them are rarely available.

kev776 01-03-21 01:51 PM

He has done well considering he has played next to 3 or 4 different players so credit to him but to think he will be first choice next season is nonsence. When all are fit he is fighting for 5th choice with Davies. If Klopp doesn't sign Kazbak he will go find another CB as 4th choice.
A good solid but limited player with an excellent attitude, he will do somebody a fine job in the championship or lower level PL.

He's intelligent too
