A couple of my mates went to the game. I'm debating whether to text them or not :D

MrMichael 23-08-08 05:11 PM

Ouch, what is it with you guys and the first few games, this happened last year. :shake:

I'll try not to laugh too much :D

The nearest we have come are from 2 set pieces onto the head of Bale and Woodgate, yes, that great strike force we now have.

Doesn't help listening to it in Spanish. When we win a throw in he screams his head off!

:rash:

That's worrying for you, obviously I haven't seen your game today but when I saw the highlights of your game last week I thought it would be a one off and you'd get it sorted for todays game

Red_Polo 23-08-08 05:32 PM

Ramos must be bricking it now, think of the amount of pressure on the next game!

Awww, don't worry, you can still win the Carling Cup. :D

Sisterstiffticket 23-08-08 07:59 PM

Mrs B....I would have expected a little more sympathy from you, Honestly!

But, yeah.....made me chuckle.

Piece of piss that Red...Chavski away!:crackoff:

We'll fu*k em!

Sisterstiffticket 23-08-08 10:39 PM

Us or Man Citeh?

Which is the funniest? I know Citeh have a catalogue of disasters behind and ahead of them but surely our transfer movement is worthy of being in even their dubious company.

1 year ago, Spurs had up front,
ROBBIE KEANE
DIMITAR BERBATOV
JERMAINE DEFOE
DARREN BENT

We have only one of those available to play now....yes ladies and gentlemen...Mr Darren Bent!

What price would we have got on that!

Personally, and I know many of you will think...'so what you sad token cockney loser' but I still reckon Ramos will be given time and build a great side at Tottenham. This is a bad situation but the management aren't stupid and know what deals to make.

Hang on....what was I saying?...
ROBBIE KEANE - GONE
DIMITAR BERBATOV - GOING
JERMAINE DEFOE - GONE
DARREN BENT - OH BUGGAR!

bigfooty 23-08-08 11:20 PM

I think Bent is decent enough but not to be your main striker.

But it's been a problem with Spurs for ages now. You're too soft in the midfield and defence. Even though you had all that firepower last season you never did enough to back it up defensively. I dunno if it was better when Carrick was there but you've not replaced him properly.

Sisterstiffticket 23-08-08 11:49 PM

Mmm, Carrick was good but I never really rated him with the players we have had in years gone by. Trouble is, you don't know what you got 'til it's gone...and he's gone.

Also, Carrick, Keane, Berbatov...who else have we sold and not wanted to? I feel like West Spam now....just a patsy club for the top four fuckers.

We're not going tobreak through while we sell them our best players. But then I'm not complaining. Look at Boswell!

Sisterstiffticket 23-08-08 11:50 PM

Oh...agree on Bent though. Decent target man and can score a run of goals in a flowing side but simply not enough on his own....plus we still begrudge that bloody price tag!

Marky 23-08-08 11:56 PM

Spurs like there North London rivals lack leaders, like real leaders.

Shaggy 24-08-08 11:23 AM

Chelsea next isn't it? So it's likely to be played 3, lost 3. After all that optimism....every new season seems to bring the same disappointments. Déja vu or what!

I cannot believe the situation you've allowed yourselves to get into regarding strikers. You need to sign at least two more! In a week!

dww 24-08-08 11:29 AM

What is odd is that the Spurs hierarchy seem keen to bring in Asharvin rather than an out right striker. Even assuming that Bent is Ramos' first choice you have to feel a backup is needed.

Sisterstiffticket 24-08-08 11:32 AM

I know. I wrote somewhere here last night that we have put ourselves up there with Man Citeh regarding comedic actions! Four strikers. Down to one with thre fourth choice being the only one left!

WTF

Tee 24-08-08 11:47 AM

Spurs should really have been flying out of the traps this season but seem hellbent on imploding. Why the fuck they did not sell Berba earlier on in the Summer and get new strikers in sooner is beyond me.

I have said all along they need a dominating player in the CM position, but who that is I am not sure. Maybe someone like Xavi of Barca should be targeted? I am sure it will be difficult to lure such a player but that is what they need IMO, aside from another genuine world class CF.

Who would you like to sign then? Kanoute? Pavlyuchenko? Someone else?

Yes BF...definately someone else!

Sisterstiffticket 24-08-08 12:55 PM

Torres for bent would be a good swap! We'd throw in a couple of players in jenas and Zakora if you like:rolleyes:

Exiled_red 24-08-08 04:36 PM

We could let you have Voronin :crackoff:

Darth Marty 24-08-08 05:15 PM

Spurs will still finish 5th.

JohnDoe 24-08-08 05:18 PM

They'll come nowhere near 5th.

They're shittier than I thought.

Darth Marty 24-08-08 05:29 PM

we will see. I have faith in the utter shiteness of the chasing pack and I really believe that when the spurs signings settle down they will rip some of the lower prem teams apart. Its not the top 4 they have to beat, its the others and to get 5th they can afford to lose 10+games. There is a long long way to go and Ramos is a quality manager who will hget it right. Once the berbatov situation is sorted they will come on leaps and bounds.

Spurs fans...

http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/forums/...howThread.aspx

:haha: Is there a more delusional group of fans in the country?

It's 8 pages long, but nothing much happens on the first page. Read pages 2-8 though, it's comedy gold.

Ferrrrnando 25-08-08 01:48 PM

Can we merge this with the Spurs thread mods?

Craig_H 25-08-08 01:55 PM

It'll get lost in the Spurs thread.

Spurs fans are thick and seem to think they are a big club. Do they not learn after ailing year after year? Everytime they develop a good player he decides to move to a big club.

To be fair, look at that thread title.

"The battle for 5th and 6th" doesnt suggest delusions of grandeur...

I also seem to remember most people tipped them to break into the top 4 last year.

Its an unwritten rule in football that Spurs will never win anything significant. All of their best players eventually see the light and transfer to a big club.

For some obscure reason their fans seem believe the propaganda that they are a big club, they need to take a serious reality check. I really do have sympathy for their deluded fans.

If you read the thread the suggestions is that we will be fighting with the bitters and pompey for 5th or 6th.

I actually quite enjoy it to be honest, If we finished mid-table every year the best we could hope for was delusional dreams and nonsense transfers that never come off :haha:

6 points ahead after 2 games (giggle)

Don't need to now, I get the gist of what was going on.

They're all entitled to their opinion, bit unfair to have a go at Spurs fans in general just because of something thats been written on a forum.

Not having a go at them, just saying there's a good bunch of them living on another planet.

For example:

Quote:

I don't see why we can't finish 4th.

We have a better team then Liverpool on paper definantly, it's all about performances now though. They always seem to have a blinding start to the season before losing to someone like Wigan or someone. I think if we have a start we could easily beat Liverpool to 4th. The thing is we have Chelsea 3rd
Quote:

Well I think Reina and Gomes are equal they have there fair share of great moments and a fair share of howlers. Reina's against United and Everton stick in my mind the most, two massive games for Liverpool. Hopefully Gomes doesnt do any against Arsenal as such.

I think Hutton is better then Finnan or that Arbeloa character. I think King is better then Carragher, I believe Carragher is hyped up after that Champions League final game where I admit he played brilliantly, yet he couldnt get a game at Euro 2004, King did and looked brilliant against a World Class France side. Woodgate is better then Agger or whoever they have at centre back. Bale is better then Dessena who is there newest left back, never heard of him but sounds shit

I think Bentley is better then Pennant at right midfield or whoever else they play there Benayoun ain't it?. Gerrard is better then Jenas. Modric is better then Alonso. I dont know, I just don't rate Alonso. He has brilliant passing ability but that's about it. Modric also has great passing ability and offers more to the team then I think Alonso would. dos Santos, never seen him in Premierleague but I thought he was class whenever he come on for Barcelona. Babel well, don't impress me, he has pace but no end product at all, reminds me of Lennon to be honest, give him the ball and let him run.

Torres is class but then so is Berbatov. Both different type of strikers. Berbatov has everything I would want in a striker, so has Torres. It's a tough one but based on Premierleague goals i'll go with Torres just because it was his first season in the Premierleague and he was simply stunning. Keane is better then Bent aswell, he adds alot to the team but if Liverpool are going to ruin him by playing him on the wing it's there loss.
Quote:

I think people are over-rating Liverpool. Our back 5 is in no way laughably inferior to theirs. The case can be made that goalkeepers are even, but in defence I believe we are better. Dawson is the question mark but if Ramos has faith in him I'm sure he will perform well if Ramos has the players suited to his system all over the park.

I'd say our flank options are better, but Gerrard is better than any of our midfielders. He alone isn't going to make them a better team than us though, because he simply isn't Superman like people make him out to be. He's great, but we are not laughably behind with the likes of Jenas and Modric compared to Alonso either. I also think Zokora will fit like a glove into Ramos' system. Don't take that to mean I think he's comparable with Gerrard, just that his performances, like Dawson's, will improve when Ramos has players suited to his system right across the park.

Upfront, the case can be made that Berbatov and Torres both offer equal output in different ways, and I think Keane will suit Benitez while Bent will suit Ramos.

If we get our remaining targets, we can easily be on Liverpool's level.
Quote:

But they got a shitty manager. We don't. They don't have wingers. We do.

Gomes = Reina
Hutton = Carragher
Woody > Skrtel
King > Agger
Bale = Arbeloa(?)
Bentley > Kuyt/Keane
Jenas < Masherano
Modric < Gerrard
Arshavin ( ;) ) > Alonso
GdS > Babel
Torres >>>>>>>>>>> Everyone

If Torres gets injured, Liverpool is royally fucked.
:haha:
