Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim, subject to a medical which will take place immediately following the player's participation in Copa America 2015 for Brazil.

The 23-year-old has agreed a long-term contract with the club.

Firmino will arrive at Anfield following four-and-a-half seasons in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

The forward made 151 appearances in league and cup for the German club, netting 47 goals, after joining them from Figueirense in December 2010.

To date, Firmino has nine caps and four goals for Brazil - including what proved to be the winner in his country's 2-1 victory over Venezuela in the Copa America on Sunday.

Jesus Christ thats a great signing .... James Milner, Firmino, even Ingis ... we are have become a lot stronger with these 3 signings ... obviously still work to do ... but man I am looking forward to seeing a Liverpool team with Couthino and Firmino in it .... Zamba Time

Bender 24-06-15 07:22 AM

potentially a top signing and shocked at how lfc did the deal so quickly so kudos to them

dizzycat 24-06-15 07:22 AM

As long as one of them can regularly stick the ball in the net I don't care what they are called or where they are from. Hopefully this lad will up expectations again and dispel some of the negativity, good luck to him.

Exiled_red 24-06-15 07:22 AM

Welcome to LFC!

tsb 24-06-15 07:23 AM

Won't believe it until there's a leaning pic...

Great news!

Myo 24-06-15 07:28 AM

Can't complain really considering the alternative being benteke ...really good signing

:jaw:

Seems too good to be true.

We're not buying him from some mid-table EPL side.
There's been no long drawn out transfer 'negotiations'.
No last minute bid from Spurs

Something not quite right here :crackoff:

Red Wino 24-06-15 07:34 AM

Is he signed as a striker, or attacking midfielder though?

foresterbloke 24-06-15 07:34 AM

My excitement is tempered by the fact that we will never see the probing hands of Dr. Zaf over our new player's body.

Nicey 24-06-15 07:35 AM

he does not score tap ins ... rubbing my hands

Both.

Nicey 24-06-15 07:36 AM

Oh yeah I am trolling United fans already

Corndog 24-06-15 07:36 AM

Great signing, was very exciting to watch at Hoffenheim.

I think he is bought to be Sterlings replacement and play right of a central striker.

RichC 24-06-15 07:41 AM

And there's a marquee signing  Credit where it's due we've gone in and got this done quickly and by the looks of it convinced him to come to us over other teams that could offer him CL football.

This Copa America now needs to fuck off before he get's injured :D

captainfog 24-06-15 07:42 AM

Never seen him play. But there was a lot of people who really wanted us to sign him so I'm hopeful! And he's not Milner. It's great we're tying up deals early.

Kenneth 24-06-15 07:44 AM

Bobby Firmino  (sounds like a benidorm Cabaret act)

Good work to get this done fairly under the radar. Big money, but big talent. Bring it :rock:

G 24-06-15 08:07 AM

Great news to wake up to, massive statement from the club and great that such a player is willing to join. They aren't all one eyed for champions league. Get a top striker now too please.

G 24-06-15 08:08 AM

Amazed at the speed of all this too, totally out of kilter with how we done things recently.

I dont know if thats true.

Maybe we have been leaking and us as fans have been finding out more and more. Getting invested in these Sagas. But maybe this one wasnt leaked to the media in any way and was done as secretly as possible to fend off other clubs.

I like it though. Link a few days ago, signed today. Its great work from everyone at the club.

We were looking at him two years ago apparently.

Reports are saying 29million - Sky are saying it's 21million + 8million add-ons. We should make a good amount through departures too. Time to say goodbye Sterling.

G 24-06-15 08:14 AM

Of course we are leaking, it can't all be players agents and selling clubs. We shouldn't be though. This is how they all should be, silent until such time as the player is almost secured that it's impossible to keep quiet.

Shaggy 24-06-15 08:16 AM

I can't believe it :haha::rock:

Here's 30+ glorious pages on Red Cafe where United fans cream themselves silly over Firmino since March 2014 and all along assume he will be signing for them. LOL.

Initial fee #LFC have paid for Firmino is 22m. Rising to 29m. He has signed a 5yr deal. Medical after Copa America

Paddy 24-06-15 08:20 AM

Yeah, the Sterling transfer will speed up fairly rapidly now I'd imagine.

IJM 24-06-15 08:27 AM

On the back of this signing I have knocked my brain's optimism mode back up by a couple of clicks.

Haven't seen this guy play yet, but what peeps are saying about him makes it sound like he might actually be a good. (See? The optimism mode is working already :) ).

TheElephantMan 24-06-15 08:29 AM

I've never seen him play, but this has restored some of my positivity. It's good to see us winning over our rivals for a player.

Nicey 24-06-15 08:29 AM

BDog talked about last season being a transition ... with these signings I can really see back in the hunt this season

dww 24-06-15 08:34 AM

This is ace. Hopefully we can now enjoy a slightly less downbeat preseason. We certainly have someone to miss the easy chances now even if we let Sterling go

My one concern is that in terms of pressure going from basically a village team to us is a big step. I guess that should be mitigated by the fact he is a full Brazil international.

wiw 24-06-15 08:36 AM

He's apparently very confident in his own ability and a bit cocky (but not a bellend) so he should hopefully settle and get going straight away. Having Coutinho, who must have whispered something in his ear btw :D, and Lucas there will help too. We've got 3 Brazilians in the team now

Paddy 24-06-15 08:37 AM

I'm hoping that Lucas may also have being a factor in him joining, he will certainly settle in a lot easier. And maybe he's been told Lucas is staying.

He is a perfect Brendan Rodgers signing :handshake:

Tee 24-06-15 08:40 AM

Quality player, he is going to add some magic to this team and cannot wait to see him and Coutinho link up.

Give him the No.7 shirt

Fredo 24-06-15 08:44 AM

Looks like he's gonna play up top. :source:

Well as Rodgers is on the committee, I guess its a committee signing. Like all of the players we sign.

I'd say all our signings are committee signings

Welcome to LFC Firmino!

Never seen him play but hopefully he will turn out to be a cracking signing.

Well done to the club for getting him in.

From the short clips I've seen, he scores some lovely goals, lets hope that he can bring those to the Premiership.

I imagine that will depend on how he plays and the classifiers view on the two camps.

I don't see how anyone thinks they can decouple the two (from the outside at least).

Lets be honest, they didn't really need him unless they are getting rid of someone. We needed to make a statement, giving Sterling inevitable departure.
