he was dreadful, we need to phase him out and soon - been a superb servant to the club but it's time for a change of the guard.

Well Skrtel and Coates aren't, although I'm always nervous whenever Skrtel is near the penalty area. I guess he's also suspended for a game too.Originally posted by Chris View PostHe's clearly on the decline but not a lot Kenny can do at the moment when everyone else keeps getting injured!

Yes but Johnson and Kelly have been out so Skrtel played on the right. I know Carragher is seen as evil on here but not sure Flanagan, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique would be much different.Originally posted by banditos View PostWell Skrtel and Coates aren't, although I'm always nervous whenever Skrtel is near the penalty area. They seem to be doing ok without his 'organisational skills'. And no Vidic either, ****ing hell.Originally posted by Darkon View PostCarragher became a regular a lot earlier:

On the note of man utd, they have a very good organizer in Ferdinand IMO, and you hear very little of the organizational quality of any defender in the media despite the importance to a team. You only hear that they have a well organized defense.
On the older defenders doing well, Hyypia springs to mind, Adams, Keown, Desailly and there are most likely others. Age is just a poor measurement as an ability, when in reality it comes down to much more than that.
Ability is way more important than 'organisational skills'. If a player doesn't warrant a place in the side on ability alone then he shouldn't be in the side. The End.

Our defence was pretty well organised before he became a regular and will be after he stops being a first choice pick. That's the job of Steve Clarke positionally and collectively the 4 that play at the back will work as a unit.
Skrtel and Coates are both internationals so whichever one comes in is more than capable of pointing fingers in someones direction ans shouting.
Pick or don't pick Carra based purely on ability and form alone, this organisation bull**** is used to ignore the real problems which is age, pace (or lack of it), mobility and a infuriating fettish with launching the ball long, high and aimlessly.
And btw those who were questioning Kenny earlier as to whether he has the balls to drop him? too ****ing right he does, he is exactly the right person to make this decision.
If Kenny continues to pick Carra then I'm 100% behind the decision, personally I would have been looking at alternative centre back pairings last season and certainly now that we have signed Coates

I'd completely forgotten about himOriginally posted by Daniel 7 View PostSuspension and injuries...
I suppose this means Wilson will get a shout? Depending on Agger's injury obvs. And surely only to the bench?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Aye.Originally posted by Chris View PostHe's clearly on the decline but not a lot Kenny can do at the moment when everyone else keeps getting injured!
As much as I also think he should be phased out starting right away,Skrtel is not consistent enough imo to be the first team option, Agger's injury woes are all too familiar issue and Coates needs time to adopt to PL.
It will happen but not so much this season.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I'm not Skrtel's biggest fan and I know he is suspended for the Brighton game but he played every minute in the PL last season (I think?? didn't he??) or something like that.
I can't watch when he plays right back, centre half he isn't so bad - not first choice but a more than adequte back up.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Aye, they are doing far to wellOriginally posted by BootRoom View PostThey seem to be doing ok without his 'organisational skills'. And no Vidic either, ****ing hell.

But I still hold that it is an ability to be captain of the defense and organising it as well as physcial attributes and technique when tackling etc. Or I should say a set of abilities that enables you to do so. Agger has them as well IMO, but Skrtel I don't have the greatest confidence in that respect.
