Scratch race, Points Race or Madison (which is like the Points race only it's a relay, in teams of two).

None of them feature in the Olympics in their own right. But the Scratch and Points both feature in the Omnium competition.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

To be fair, I think it would be hard for anyone who becomes the best ever (arguably) in a certain field, to not get a bit of an ego.

What's the competition which is a bit cat and mouse with both cyclists going as slow as possible before one makes a mad dash for the line?

                Love that one.

Aye. And all the top players have big egos.

Nice story anyway Neil. Roger rocks

Yes, probably. Although I'd say it might be the other way around, at least as far as sport is concerned - it's hard to become the best if you don't have a bit of an ego to start with.

I thought what the reporter said about Federer was interesting. He's charming, approachable and friendly but also has a big ego. It's a rare combination, except maybe for politicians.

                          The individual sprint.

Baugé versus Kenny would be a great final.
