With Kacaniklic doing so well at Fulham, I began thinking about the other players Rafa brought in at around the same time. The likes of San Jose (doing well at Bilbao), Pacheco etc.

Marvin Pourie - remember him? Big German striker. According to Wiki...17 goals in 32 games for Silkeborg in Denmark. Also says..."in "September 2011 he was voted most valuable player in the Danish Superliga".

Andras Simon. Lumbering Hungarian hitman. He is 22 and according to Wiki has still never scored a goal in his life. Went to Cordoba on loan, 0 goals in 9 games. Signed for Excelsior and scored 0 goals in 1 game. He then signed for Győri ETO FC in Hungary, scoring 0 goals in 4 games, and he is now on loan at Lombard-Pápa TFC where he has scored 0 goals in 5 games.

Nemeth is at Roda JC in the Eredivisie. 1 goal in 12 games (Wiki).
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

This is my favourite thread to see bumped and I commend Shaggy for keeping it alive. One of my favourite things to do when I’m bored is to Wikipedia old players.

Here’s a golden oldie: Frode Kippe. He only ever made two appearances for us – both as substitute in the League Cup against Hull and Grimsby. Now aged 34 and still playing for Lillestrom. Made a massive 8 appearance for the Norwegian national side (that’s 7 more than Bjorn Tore Kvarme did) and won Norwegian Defender of the Year in 2007.

I remember an old season review video from the Houllier era with one of my favourite quotes from Phil Thompson on Kippe: “Looks a bit ungainly when he runs, but he’s effective”. At least he was half right.

Any chance of a compilation Mostar?

I remembered Godwin Antwi a few days ago, apparently he's played around 30 matches since 2009 for a Danish club Vejle.

What was that tall Dutch striker's name, the one everybody hated cause he was **** but still got to play every match for the u18/reserve team?

EDIT: Jordy Brouwer broke the curse of Andras Simon in 2009, but has since then failed to repeat it

Has anyone mentioned Adam Pepper yet in this thread? Just thinking about promising youngsters, I remember Pepper was supposed to be the business not long back.

Now at Stalybridge Celtic in the Blue Square North

I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                  Mine angry and defrauded young?

I see a fair bit to Marvin Pourie on the tele and he is quite a good player. Scored 7 out of his teams 13 goals in the league this season and assisted a couple of the last 6. Well done for a team at the bottom of the league.

Didn't we have a link up with an African team during Rafa's reign, Ashanti Gold IIRC. And when they eventually produced a decent player he went elsewhere.
