Looks increasingly like they'll get caught and passed by Utd unfortunately. Could set them back a couple of years

Probably not for this thread, but two of the big six will miss out on Champions League each year. It's clear how much damage that does.

I'm quite torn on who I'd prefer to miss out. All of them, ideally.

Nice being in this position for change.

Prediction or preference?

I dunno, I think I'd prefer Chelsea and United to miss out.

Abramovich seems to be losing interest and that might be the nail in the coffin for him.

And United, well, they're United. Once they get their shit together (and they will at some point) they will be hard to compete with. The longer this goes on the better. And their incompetence has been a hoot. Enjoy it while it lasts.

That stadium seems to be crippling them atm. They really do need Champions League football Parkside more than their rivals.

And he's the manager. He'll put whatever spin he can on to motivate everyone around him. It's his job.
Of course he's entitled to that, but he had a dig at Liverpool not fighting at all fronts just few days ago, and now cups are only for the ego. I agree with him that in the long term the CL is more important for Spurs than the cups, just like for us, the title is more important than the cups.

Only one team will find that their cup run will be worth it, madness to risk the league now really, both for us and them.

Prefer United, but for once, I don't really care that much, probably because we are not looking up the table.

City are in it for the long haul and as you said United will eventually get their shit together and/or get sold to competent owners. We need to be well established in the top 3 when that happens.

Man Utd and Chelsea for me too, I'm not so worried about Arsenal or Spurs winning or challenging for stuff. Man Utd and Chelsea could be a threat if they get stuff together

It would be good to see chelsea and UTD not in the top 4. But it wont affect them in any way. Chelsea can still attract the merceneries and UTD have enough money to bankroll players to them. Still, many players would still go to them because of who they are to begin with.

And many top players who wouldnt go there if they were not in CL. Not bothered about Spurs being there as soon as Poch goes, The players will too.

Still not ready....

They should just be told to sack it off until next season now. Mad that our game with them was scheduled to be the first one at the new place.

Saw a video of their stadium and it is absolutely stunning, basically looks complete but obviously not good to go due to safety checks. Cost them a fortune but the stadium is going to be right up there as one of the best in the world. Can’t deny there is a tad jealousy, yes we have Anfield and it’s unique history but what they have built is special and will be a major attraction for new signings (if they have any money left)

Yep, Spurs won't forever never win anything. If they can manage to keep Poch for the short to medium term, they will carry on challenging.

They're a good team mind, and still outsiders in this title race.

A new stadium won't deliver silverware, they have a good team and a good manager which always helps though. We are in a much better place than them even with their new stadium. Owners are reluctant to build new stadiums as they aren't cost effective, the return on investment just isn't there. A shiney new stadium is good to look at though.

If they're going to start winning trophies they really need to start bulking up their squad and I can't see that happening any time soon.

They seem to be doing really well in keeping their best players though. But that's not enough as it stands to take the next step.

Something I heard on Talksport the other day 'If Tottenham doubled there wages for every player and then signed 7 players on 100k a week, they would still have a lower wage bill than City's'

Most of them are on quite new contracts so you'd think they're happy with what they're earning for now at least.

The stadium is going to be a massive massive drain on them for a few years yet.

They need to win something fairly soon despite the lack of investment or they may lose momentum

Since the November International break, they have taken 33 points in the league. Only us with 35 points, have had more points in that period.

They're having a freak season with all those would be draws that they've scraped wins from.

The amount of games they've struggled to create many chances yet scored every chance they have is unreal.

Any normal season they'd have about half a dozen draws by now and would be at least 15 points off the pace.

Much like United last year, their position massively flatters them. I would say that they will be found out soon enough (like United were this year), but they should improve once Kane and a few of the other injured players return, so will probably finish 3rd with a decent points total.

I don't believe this is a correct assumption.

They could be very efficient and score out of very few chances. They still are tremendously resourceful out of their playing squad out of the amount of injuries they've had over the season.

Are they though (a turd)? They've been consistently good over the past 3 years, despite minimum investment in their team.

Itís not an assumption, Fredo. Watch their games. They regularly struggle to create in games but very often end up scoring from a shot from outside the box or an individual mistake from a goalkeeper or defender.

I heard a stat which backs this up. Over a recent 6 game winning run, they were scoring 3 goals a game more than their expected goals. Thatís the equivalent to creating nothing all game, apart from taking 3 shots from outside the box and all 3 of them going in. For 6 games in a row.

Thatís not sustainable, nor is it down to efficiency. Itís just luck.

I mean they're always around, even though no one acts like they are. It's like everyone's talking about us and City, even though Spurs are in the mix.

They've been consistently good, without doing much, and when you think the lack of transfers may hinder them, they're still near the top.

So yes, they're a turd that won't flush.

Listening to the commentary -

Dahoud to Gotze, Gotze to Pulisic

Three players we were heavily linked with, three bullets dodged in my opinion!
