That would be a ridiculous punishment, take points away in a season that is now basically meaningless. All trophies won domestically should be stripped and should be relegated. That shouldn't even need debating really. They've absolutely taken the piss and shown not even one bit of remorse for it, get them down.

A points deduction when they've nothing to play for is exactly the sort of cowardly move you'd expect from the authorities here though, hopefully they surprise us!

The attitude of the fans is inherited from, or at least mirrored by, the attitude of the club.

How 'leaked' emails and invoices led to Manchester City's ban from Europe
Quote:
...City perceived that their plans for rapid accession to the Champions League elite were challenged by FFP, and persistently threatened a legal challenge. The club’s inhouse lawyer Simon Cliff wrote in one of the published emails that Mubarak had told Gianni Infantino, then Uefa’s general secretary, that he would not accept a financial sanction for exceeding the permitted €45m loss in 2012 and 2013, and said: “He would rather spend 30 million on the 50 best lawyers in the world to sue [Uefa] for the next 10 years.”

In 2014, the IC determined that City had a deficit of €180m over that two year period, vastly in excess of the €45m permitted, and in May that year agreed a settlement which some at Uefa believed was too lenient. A day before that, the former chair of the IC, Jean-Luc Dehaene, a distinguished former prime minister of Belgium and senior European Union politician, died aged 73, survived by his wife of 49 years and their four children. Spiegel quoted Cliff’s reaction to this news in an internal email, referring to the membership of the IC: “1 down, 6 to go.”...

Take your pic from Bluemoon this evening, but this one is right up there!

Ultimately it's UEFA's party, and as hosts they can pick and choose who attends and the conditions around the staying at that party. I think as a club we must seriously ask ourselves that when the hosts and the majority of their guests don't like us then why are we bothering. In short, we're kidding ourselves and endorsing them to boot. I think we should simply now make a statement irrespective of any fudged CAS outcome, that we are as a club no longer going to take part in any UEFA competition. It will only take us to win the title here and then shun their competition before quite quickly it will capitulate. The BDO once thought they could never be challenged but the formation of the PDC soon changed that.
They're going to boycott the Champions League at which point it will quickly capitulate in their absence

League 1 would be a great relegation for them. They hate that some our our fans disturbed the sleeps of rival players at their hotel but they did that in the league 1 play offs years ago so seems fair they reset their setting to pre that event

I don’t get why they’re not kicked outta the CL this year too. Whoever finished 3rd in their group should play Madrid!

(Obviously hypothetical) if they win it this year, would be really weird, and would be terrible publicity for the competition..

City already think decisions go against them, imagine when they get knocked out with a few dodgy decisions They surely cant win it this year.

If they do, they should, as a couple of BlueMoon intellectuals put it "melt down the trophy and craft it into season tickets", or "the players surround it on the pitch and piss on it".

Reasonable bunch of fans on there.

Sorry, misunderstood your last post. I thought you meant you had read the article, not "as if" you read the article

It just says that a recent rule change means that FFP breaches like City’s would from now on mean relegation all the way down to League 2.

What good is a points deduction this year, given our position they are extremely unlikely to win the league. it's only likely to be about 10-12 points which would probably just see them finish 2nd rather than 3rd and if the UEFA ban is upheld they won't be in CL anyway, it would be a nothing punishment. Their breaking of the rules has allowed them to win a number of trophies, if the punishment is to match the crime strip them of those titles and and impose a punishment that removes their unfairly gained advantage going forward (tighter FFP rules, reduced squad size, denial of revenues or a transfer ban) . A points deduction this year is the ultimate hollow gesture.

Agree completely. A points deduction this season doesn’t actually cost them anything.

They should be stripped of their titles. They’ve cheated us out of title wins in 2013/14 and 2018/19.

Ideally the prem will drop them a division or two.
There is little point deducting them points as it wont really have much bearing on the league other than finishing positions.
So for at least the last two years they have been clearly playing with cards up their sleeve, we could have had a couple more league wins.

Rather than relegating them to L2, I would like them to be stripped of their recent PL titles, especially 2014 and 2019. Hollow or not, it would be nice to be ahead of the scum again.

Though they would probably get 2012, so we'd be level after this season. Works for me!

That’d also hand Jose and them another title in 17/18
