Ref Strikes Back
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56096867
So a bloke getting chirp all game long eventually reacts.
I'm extremely surprised it hasn't happened before, it would have been nice to see the PFA force an apology out of the player.
As for Lambert's contribution, he's just given his players licence to wind up every single ref from this point onwards.

My friend alternates from a Slough to a Glasgow accent quite seamlessly depending on whether he's talking to his friends or his parents!
I don't see it as any different to speaking a different language.

Oddly his playing profile doesn't mention his stint in Belgium where, if I recall correctly, he was in trouble for assaulting a referee.

You know Phil Lynott grew up in Dublin and apparently a friend of a friend recollects him saying Dublin was the greatest city in the world and was an inspiration for every successful song Thin Lizzy had because it was such an amazing place to grow up. The source said he also thanked his lucky stars that he was fortunate enough not to grow up in the west of Ireland. A barren wasteland full of undesirables he called it. True Story
My uncle actually hung around with him when they were younger in Crumlin

Yes I knew where he grew up, hence me being very specific and only including those born there
Same source says that his biggest great was not growing up in the South and having the chance to be an adopted man of Munster. True story

Hands up, I loved football when it was like this. Hard as fuck. Credit to Cantona, he didn't roll around, he didn't go off pretending he was dead, he stays on and scores a great goal.
Football was so much better in the past. Last 15 years have been shit and now we have VAR which effectively has killed the game.

No doubt each decade back just gets rougher and rougher by the standards of the decade that came after it.

Funny how players weren't destroyed by every touch, the latest trend of going down when you get a touch on the shoulders or body needs to stop, refs need to walk up to the player and tell them to stop being pussy.
It's amazing they don't all suffer season ending injuries from celebrating a goal.

It's not the players it's the coaching.
Players are coached to go down at the slightest touch.

In fact its the referees allowing them as fouls.

I was very close to name checking you!
A happy medium between the full frontal assault and the pens given for slow motion minor infringements would be good for me.
Totally agree on the getting up and getting on with it though. 90% of times when a player stays down they could easily just get up and get on with it.

From a personal level I think I could easily avoid it but it will never happen on a remotely close to meaningful level and stadiums will be full.

Don't think i will bother with it. The corruption is unreal. Remember when they got awarded it, it was going to be air-conditioned stadiums, and the sadiums were going to be dismantled and given to poor countries. Dodgy as f##k alright.
