From the broadcast angle on TV, behind Nunez (so pretty near your seat) it definitely looked in.

Having grown up on the brilliance and fuck ups of Brucie, this guy has to be our best keeper since Clemence.
His only weakness is his occasional poor pass to the opponent. Otherwise he's brilliant.

Find a keeper that does not do that though.
Hell finding one that does it only as often as Alisson does is very difficult. The guys has a pass completion rate that puts a lot of midfielders to shame and that includes long passes. He averages a pass completion rate of about 85% or 86% over the course of a season.
His passing is not a weakness at all given he is one of the most accurate passers for a goalkeeper going right back to his Roma days.
To put his passing in context, his completion rates are within touching distance of those of Matip and VVD.

His only weakness is not hoofing it fast enough when needed.
This is allowing the oppo player to chase him down and then force him into a hurried pass to an oppo player or a risky cruyff turn that has now become too easy for other players to anticipate.
Just fackin launch it.

Think you have to work really hard to find an actual weakness in his game rather than things that can happen to any keeper.
For me he is as good as a peak Neuer.
Like Neuer , he has the physicality, postioning, shot stopping and that ability to become a wall to match guys like Khan, and Schmeichel at their very best.
But also like Neuer, he is elite with the ball at his feet and completely comfortable.
You could name guys like Oblak, Khan, Schmeichel, Reina, Clemence etc and for me Ali is a more complete keeper than any of them, just as Neuer was imo. He is not just good in every aspect of goalkeeping he is elite.
Only guy from yesteryear (well during my lifetime watching the game) that I think might have been on his level, other than Neuer, is prime Neville Southall.

Once he has done this (with the hair as well) I will agree 100%.

Yip same here.
I always though Bruce was overrated to be honest (and am also convinced he took a bung) but never got to see Clemence play for LFC.
David James had the all of the physical attributes but a pretty shite mentality. Pepe Reina was very good but Becker is another level

Wished they had panned to Pickford or Lampard at that moment, just to see their reaction.

He is off the charts 1v1. Even better than Schmeichel was.

Totally did the striker by stopping his movement towards him, leaving the striker no choice but to try and create the collision he expected himself. Ridiculous thing is that most PL refs would have given it and VAR wouldn’t have overturn it, simply because the ball ended up behind Ali.

I think if the ref hadn't cottoned onto the diving been done that may have been a pen in real time. possibly overturned in VAR though.

i was 100% sure it was a pen especially considering the direction the ball travelled, was sure a red card would follow. Seeing it in slo mo shows how good a save it actually was and the ball direction was off Alissons hand.

Through shitty referring in the Premier League we've become conditions to expect a penalty & red card any time there's contact like that in the box between a keeper / player

do you think the ref saw it cleanly, or think he was waiting for VAR to correct him if it was the wrong decision?

I still can't see the point in time where their forward clattered in to Alisson. I would've probably accepted a penalty had it been given.
We would still have progressed though so ultimately it wouldn't have mattered

soon as i saw that he had gotten the ball i was sure it was a good tackle. maybe a little surprised they didn't stop play to check but i feel like it's always come down to whether the keeper touches the ball when he goes or not.

if two players foul each other at the same time what happens?
I can't make my mind up on that one yesterday could of easily gone either way and I doubt VAR would have overruled any decision.
