Fucking hell, no messing about from Newcastle.

Good luck Rafa. You'll need it.

Trying to be neutral about this, Newcastle just landed themselves a top manager, they got the better end of that deal.

It is a sensational appointment, if he can keep them up. If we didn't have Klopp I'd be proper distraught at the news.

I'd wager he'll keep them up. The prospect of sending big Sam down to the Championship was too good to turn down.

He's mad.

Fuck knows what happens to him if this move doesn't work out.

He must have pulled in some Euros in severance pay over the last few years. His accountant will be loving him.

I had £2.50 on Newcastle finishing in the top half a couple of weeks ago at 50/1. It's back on!

Same!

I can't imagine Rafa managing in the Championship, thought he'd take this interim and then see at the end of the season.

Was thinking the same but then again he's been down that road before with the Valencia board then H&G so he might have some coping strategies. Well for a while at least.

Newcastle United

They are excited because he's a big name and a genuine top shelf manager but I don't think Newcastle fans will like his style of football. I can see them tiring of him quickly unless he can win them a cup.

That's if he can keep therm up, of course.

I'm amazed he's gone for this, especially considering that regime there. I'm sure he could have got a much better job in the summer and not had the headache of a relegation battle.

Wouldn't surprise me if he just wants to try and get one over FS lol.

Boss appointment for Newcastle and can't wait to see him back at Anfield. Bit of a comedown for Rafa but hes a winner and is just what Newcastle need. Ashley better be prepared to open up the cheque book in the summer.

Rafa will ask for a table and a wardrobe and he'll be given a Dunlop golf club and a Sports Direct mug

Not if his contract has a get out of jail free card. Its a win-win really. Keeps them up is hailed a hero. They fight bravely but go down it was always against him.

No.

Reports have suggested he only signed his contract with stipulations, 1) that he would have a lot of control, something we all know Rafa needs and 2) If they are relegated he is released from his contract without any complications.

So, sacked? No.
