He seems he a good lad though. Strange looking face all the same. I also hope he wins nothing in football.

He shouldn't have to explain himself - he's a credit to his community, his club and to the country.

So he missed a penalty, big whoop - life goes on and children won't stop being hungry because England won a big shiny thing.

Don’t care about England, detest United but this lad has my genuine admiration.

This is how the Marcus Rashford mural in Withington looks this morning

He should. But only after we beat them 10-0

He transcends rivalry for me with this work outside football. As said above, he doesnt need to explain himself.

Yeah, he is a proper hero. We need more people like him in this time we find ourselves in.

I think he is remarkable, but maybe given the background that he comes from it is not surprising? He has been brought up with great values and has a talent that has brought him wealth and profile. He is using that for a greater good.

It all falls into the demonising of the poor. That people with nothing are some sort of criminal underclass. When, of course, they can also raise great children with good values.

Hopefully he is the first of many. If anything the need is higher and more desperate than ever, the fight has just begun.

It is depressing as fuck that so much of what we (well not all of us) want to see in society falls onto the shoulders of a 23 year old kid.

Took my lad and his best mate to the mural yesterday, it's a pretty incredible sight and vibe around the place. The positive influence Rashford has on young kids is remarkable.

your lad's mate seems to have mistakenly picked up one of those abundance of charity shop shirts instead of an LFC one...

It’s great to see two different football shirts, ones that have this testosterone fuelled rivalry photographed together also.

Bringing up two young boys trying to explain away, the toxic masculinity around football is sometimes quite hard. It’s fine to have rivals, but once the game is done that should be it. We are all guilty of this. A guy like Rashford and an event such as this should and could hopefully bring people together. Football seems to have lost that power to unite.

Can't really refute that allegation separately, but i'm far too young to recognise the song by its name - i'm in my late 30's!

He's an example to many people, let alone MUFC fans.
As begrudging as it may seem, I'd deffo have to applaud the man for his work during Covid if I was stood on the Kop pre game.

What he's done goes beyond rivalries... and he's done it with so much more dignity and humility than any of those fat fuckers in Parliament.

And that is part of why they will be out to do him in and smear his name anyway he can.

They have no comprehension of what it is like to have things like dignity, humilty and empathy come naturally, and they certainly cannot understand why someone with means and influence would want to do right by those less well off.

Plus I imagine the fact he is black riles more than just a few of them.

All I know is Marcus Rashford has and is proving himself to be an impressive young man who has not forgotten his roots and is trying to use the fact that his position of status (earned through his own hard work and talent) affords him some influence in terms of helping others and in giving those people a voice.

Rashford scares the shit out of the establishment because if a few more Rashfords emerge each year from the football world or another high profile sporting or entertainment world, then it creates a loud voice to highlight real issues and to point out the failings of the so called national leaders.

Yep

The mad thing is they try and politicise him, but he has never made a single political utterance from what I can see. He has transcended politics by just doing what is right.

Being black and doing something of significance *is* political these days.
