Ryder Cup 2021
Can't see us winning this one but no pressure at least.

Their team is unreal on paper but obviously it rarely works out like that. I do think we'll lose though.

They certainly look better on paper don't they.
Was just reading about the course as I don't remember it very well - apparently it suits the big hitters and the 'best' players, fairly windy most of the time, and has shitload of bunkers. Soooo, yeah...... .........
edit - I remember what the point of this was now Would've thought Europeans are better wind players?

Starts about 1pm tomorrow. I got confused and thought it started today and was all excited
As far as Europe's chances go it's a free hit. We are the biggest underdogs ever, the top of the world rankings is basically a list of the US Ryder Cup Team with John Rahm at the top

The length of the course suits them, but the wind/bunkers/shape of some of holes there is fuck all they can do to make it easier for themselves. Duno which Ryder cup they had no rough or bunkers around the green.
The only thing they've done is keep the rough thick in distance of the European drivers and shorter further up where they hit it.

I think we'll win the top 2 and lose the others. 2-2.

Until they start throwing clubs at each other with the Europeans cowering for cover!...would make great coverage!!

Hard to imagine how we can win any of those other than the first one to be honest. Obviously doesn't aways go as per the form guide though.
I'm stuck watching it on NBC Golf, with US commentary

Smart play by Padraig getting McIlroy in the clubhouse early so he can prepare for the fourballs

He's been absolutely hacking it around so far.
I'd shoot about 250 on this course, it's brutal.

Well...the wind doesn't seem to be bothering them much
Seems harsh that we can't have any fans there

Whooped - arguably the best ever Ryder Cup team based on world rankings. Giving himself so many picks also helped......
Outside of Justin Rose not sure who else they could have brought? Never seen emotion like this from Rory

They played quite well and us pretty poor, that par 5 fifth hole seemed to sum us up. The wildcards or pairing or whatever else wouldn't have changed the result so no point moaning but thought Harrington was a poor captain.
Got to fancy them to dominate this for a good while now.

No complaints with the US winning this, I think it was a massive ask to have beaten this time around but not taking Rose was a bad call and I don't think we did a great job with some of the pairings we put out.
Harrington was a pretty poor captain in my eyes.
Need to make sure we do as they did this time around in Rome and set that golf course up to suit us as best we can.

Yeah that Rory interview choked me up too. Really felt for him.
They just got beat by a far better team, no shame in that really. I think that was the best quality Ryder Cup team I've ever seen, they were absolutely unbeatable.
I don't think I've ever seen that many long clutch putts sunk, felt like they holed one every 5 minutes.
I think the atmosphere (as idiotic as their fans are) made a huge difference. It was extremely one-sided and it had their players amped throughout.
Not many positives to take for Europe but Hovland is a massive talent and I loved watching him play.

wasn't sure if he was taking the piss with his voice breaking down at first
He should have a crack at making the team in 2 years, he'll probably miss out and be a vice captain, still gives him more insight before the man job.
I'd give Luke Donald the gig, injuries have fucked him and all the other potential candidates could make the team with the right wind.

Obviously dependent on form but I'd look to move on from Westwood and Poulter in terms of playing options now. Move on. They'll no doubt be around the teams for years to come as captains or vice.

Next Ryder cup if Westwood and Poulter make it through qualifying automatically fair enough if not it's time to move on now.

Yeah I agree with you both, we need to rebuild with a new generation. I'm just not sure there's enough European talent coming through to replace them?
It's scary how much talent the US has coming through. I know it's two years away but hard to see us not getting hammered again, even on home soil.

Hovland has come out of nowhere in the last two years - only turned pro in 2019 - so we gotta hope for another 2 or 3 like him.

Also wonder if we should increase the number of captain's picks, like they do. Our system allows for too many out of form players making the team...like Hatton, who made the team largely due to his form last year but he's struggled this year.

Their team was obviously better in terms of talent, but with the Ryder cup especially it seems like a game at Anfield vs an away game, the crowd can make a huge difference for and against. Saying that though, didn't Rahm/Garcia get about 70% of our points? Bit embarrassing They also have so 10 out of the top 15 ranked players, so we were fucked.
Hopefully guys like MacIntyre will hopefully be in with a shout next time

I honestly think our best Ryder Cup team from the last 20/30 years would also have got trounced by that US team. They were just far too good.
