My thoughts exactly - his fallout with the hierarchy there works both ways

That works out at nearly £200m a year, no wonder Barcelona are in the shit financially

Insane amount of money. Beyond even silly money.

Messi must be getting pretty much our entire squads wages!

Will he take a massive pay cut to go elsewhere? Even without a sign on fee the disruption to harmony a player on those wages will cause will be significant if the existing squad start pushing for pay rises.

Isn't that the reason he's always stayed at Barcelona, no one else could get close to paying him the money he's used to

Messi looks as though he's chucked it.

That third Mbappe goal was excellent. I thought the chance had gone when the ball was played wide to him. Emphatic finish.

Barca are a poor, poor team.

Mbopp reminds me of John Barnes, powerful running, great dribbling, drops a gear and just breezes past two or three players in the blink of an eye.

Sign.

I will have the biggest wank of my life if Mbappe signs for us.

Jota, Mbappe and Elliot to replace the old guard..

Just read on the BBC that he is signing a new 5 year contract at Barca (he's currently 34 so that would see him play until 39). And he's halving his wages to just over £60m a year

he's not really taking a pay cut but getting a 2/3 year salary paid over 5 to get Barca under the salary cap.

His wages have destroyed the team and his chances of success over the years, it would have made more sense for him to have reduced wages and an agreed 'ambassador' salary for 20 years after he finished playing

Didn't take long for this to come to light

Reports say that part of that contract will be as an ambassador for the club when he moves to play in Major League Soccer - rumoured to be two years into his contract.

wonder will Barca try to have a MSL franchise - possibly with Messi having a big stake in it as well - a-la Beckham.

Could see Ronaldo then doing the same and perhaps that is the new post-playing career of superstars.

If he's being paid the same as an ambassador as he is as player then that's dodgy as fuck, surely that can't be the case?

its blatantly bending the rules but then its quite common for high paid players to go out on loan and their original club foot the bill for most the wages so how they can prove it?

He's goes out on loan to play in MLS and still does PR bits for Barca, all above board.

Usually clubs don't offer long term contracts to 34 year old though, and while it's common to sign young players to long contracts with the intention of loaning them out you usually just let older players leave on a free or some minimal fee after years of service and they want to prolong their career by playing in the MLS. Perhaps Barca are cunningly using their stupidity over wages and transfers over recent years to make it look like incompetence rather than something dodgy

Hilarious, should be definitely taking advantage of this especially after the Suarez and Coutinho sagas.

Offer 10 mil for moriba.

I don't think the money is there but I wonder what they'd do if someone bid 45 mil for De Jong.
