But assists? Before this season he was up there with Trent.

It is also surely about the organised chaos that it all causes? The protection of Hendo and Fab in the middle (along with Gini or soon to be Thiago) means that the full backs can get forward more and more. And when Virgil and Joe were back providing even more protection, then it was even more so. I think this season we have been fucked over on many fronts - the defensive injuries meant the midfield re-deployments which fucked us. But the sudden drop off in attacking potency really compounded the whole thing.
Robbo and trent will never hit the heights as far as assists go again imo, the opposition know exactly how we play and they won't get the space to utilise. We need a new attacking plan. A central striker that can run, play and score with headers would add much.

I agree Bob. We don’t need to throw the baby out with the bath water, but we need to be less predictable and have other options other than intricate passes through packed defences.

Leicester deserve 2nd for me, exciting to watch and have had a nightmare with injuries to several key players throughout the season. I think United have been so lucky this season. But yeah I suppose everyone apart from City have been pretty disappointing.

If Utd are the second best team in the PL this season, thatís a measure of just how shit every other team has been compared to last season.

The drop off on quality across the board has been immense this season.

The funny thing is we could possible have a City vs Chelsea champs league final & an Arsenal vs United Europa League final.

I'll be rooting for Chelsea as the lesser of the two evils!... We'll never hear the end of it if City were to triumph this year...nah fuck that, come on PSG...get your arses into gear against City in the 2nd leg!

I reckon if city win it Pep will leave as job done. That may be a better option.
Putting a neutral hat on, they have probably been consistently one of the top teams in Europe for quite a few seasons. I wouldn't say they deserve one but corruption aside they probably should have won one CL by now.

yup I decided this yesterday Chelsea then Madrid (vomit) then PSG (big vomit) then City (big vomit).

As you say the lesser of the evils, unfortunately there are 4 horrible clubs left.

Madrid first for me. They may not be a "nice" club but they are European royalty with one hell of a pedigree in the competition. Plus would prefer to have been knocked out by the eventual winners.

Gets trickier after that but probably Chelsea, PSG and then City.

One of the top teams in England sure.

This is the first season they've done anything of note in Europe since the billions poured in.

Chelsea for me. Madrid are as bent as the rest of them. So might as well laugh at the Mancs looking over their shoulder even after their most successful manager (Ferguson) was in charge for 25 years. Perch, what perch?

i think when he has Virgil and another first teamer behind him, and Hendo and Fab next to him, then we are going to see a totally different Thiago next season.

He is comically slow, but his ability on the ball is outrageous. Notice that he was left on last night, as he offers that degree of control. Curtis did well when he came on also.

None of our midfielders are speedsters and I find it strange that Thiago's been mentioned as being slow.

He has an engine on him, can cover ground in midfield and the way he counter presses is excellent. He does have the tendency to be a bit rash, but you can see him improving in that department next season.

Hendo is rapid.

Thiago is slow. We didnt buy him to be a box to box midfielder though, so its fine.

I have been critical of him, so I am happy to praise him as well. I thought he did really well. Wish though he would (a) pull his socks up, (b) foul less and (c) do fewer of those passes when he instantly returns the ball to the man who has just passed to him.

Those two and Hendo in MF with VVD and Gomez behind them is going to see next season be very different for us. Obvious caveat that everyone returns from injury the same sharpness as before
