He had a bench with kids most of the time, a midfielder at left back, and had to deal with tons of injuries to our main players including our man striker. He was up against Guardiola, Mourinho who have spent 100s of millions of pounds on an already expensive squad. He has managed to get us fourth with all of this issues. And when we had anything approaching a full-strength first team, the football was brilliant.
Fourth is a wee bit disappointing given where we were in winter but our final league position is impressive given what he was up against. Provides us with a base to build on. He may have his flaws (on the defensive side) but we have a very special manager at our helm. Credit where its due.

Klopp on Transfers “We have already pretty much done (the work). We have to see. Most of the work is already done, of course.
“(It's not like) tomorrow with Michael Edwards we will sit together and speak about what we think we need!
“Now we have to make decisions. Negotiations need to be done. All that stuff.
“But it's all good. We are prepared, we will see what works out or not.
“There's no training in the next few weeks. We fly tomorrow night for Australia, play the game, fly back and the holiday starts for all of us.

No way were we going to sustain anything more with our injuries. We're not lucky Chelsea.

Can't wait to see what he does in the summer now we are looking at CL football. He's done a wonderful job with the squad he has and hardly spending a penny. If FSG give him the resources the sky's the limit.

been here before but feels like a real crossroads for FSG. The time to invest is now and push this great club onwards

I think they now realise they have a man in charge whom they can trust so won't have any issue giving him the money he needs. Unlike Brendan get me Joe Allen or I'll walk Klopp has proved himself.
We can't have another window like we did in 2014 and I don't think we will as we have a world renowned and respected manager rather than a snake oil salesman who asks his captain to send text messages to players to try get them to sign as he has zero credibility.

On the verge of something special for the first time since Rafa (apologies to King Kenny)
Board need to seriously back him in the summer. 4th with the injuries, limited squad, 5th highest wage bill and our net spend is a fantastic achievement.

When he has spent big, It has worked. Mane was player of the year and Wijnaldum is definitely the player for the big occasion.
i Think they way we qualified is hopefully a blessing and Klopp knows that we are still way short to have a decent crack at the Prem and CL.
3 major signings and a couple of squad players and we should really kick in for next season.

i think the biggest issue for Klopp and LFC this season was our injuries....Mane injured and the Afcon cup,Lallana injured 2,3 times this season and Henderson along with Sturridge....we could quite easily have challenged for 2nd spot....Hope we sign quality and improve our options on the subs bench.

Mistakes have been made, some more often than we can sometimes tolerate, but we have the right man in charge and I think with the backing he will put us back on our perch very soon.

The defining aspect of this Premier League season has been the increase in competition at the top of the table. Chelsea earned 43 more points than 2015/16, Tottenham 16 more points, Liverpool 16 more, Manchester City 12 more, Arsenal four more and Manchester United three more. The races for the title and top four have been marathons run at a sprinter’s pace.
read that in an article tonight, makes top 4 even more impressive with all the shit we have had to contend with, Specially when we were the outsiders of the top 6 clubs for a top 4 finish.

I have a feeling this was the highest points total required to secure top four, since top four became a thing.

Most points for top 4 since 4 cl places and more competitive but last year was a poor barometer. Every year since 4 cl places bar 2013/14 4th could have been secured with Arsenals points haul for 2nd.

13/14 was 2 teams tied on 72. No other team has needed 70 to get 4th.

The bottom half of the division has been quite shockingly poor this season though (and we still managed to drop points to several of them).

I think there are two broad tactical areas that need addressing: bearing in mind how rarely our opponents get into our penalty area, they score too many goals; and we struggle to break down teams that sit deep and wait. If we can solve those issues and keep the squad fresh, next season ought to see a more consistent set of results than this season.
But, if we really want to achieve a step change, we need to buy three very high quality performers that deliver, retain all that we want to keep and also thicken the squad generally (and obviously particularly at left back).

Nail on the head.
The vast majority of us would have been happy with where we finished if asked last July.
Yes fourth place is not a trophy but it represents a solid improvement upon the season before, and that fourth place finish now sets the bar for next season.
And Klopp has form for taking a couple of seasons to consolidate before pushing hard up the table, so we have plenty to be confident about.

The fella failed to recognise we also played kids in the run up to the EL final and football doesn't work in a linear pattern.

No - he is a podcaster on Anfield Index and does a lot of statistical analysis which I like. Unbiased opinions based on stats rather than preferences tells the true story.
