Although he scored against us a few times, most notably a winner in an fa cup(qtr final?) tie but he was one manc i didn't mind. Always had a smile on his face and you have to admire the way he came through all those injuries.
I guess in the end, he just couldn't go on.

Couldnt stand the rent-boy Manc - that fukkin smile used to wind me up bigtime.
BTW I am sure I heard that he was a Liverpool fan as a kid and was even a member of the supporters club.

Bollox he was a dirty manc bastard.
Remember that game against Newcastle when one of the geordies was clean through on goal and he on purpose brought him down knowing that he had no chance of getting to the ball. He didnt even bother waiting for the red card, just got up and ran down the tunnel while getting applauded by every manc in old trafford

Or when we had them on the ropes at Old Trafford, 1-0 up, then he goes in studs up on Hyypia, forcing him off to get treatment. When he's off the bastard scores, 1-1.
It's a shame when any player retires though, even Mancs.

That was one of the most disgusting moments of football I have ever had the misfortune of watching.
His goals per minutes played is probably quite a stat to behold however!

He was a good player in fairness
My overriding memory of him though will be how Bobby Robson kept calling him Skolshire

Did you know that Ronnie Whelan was a scum fan until he joined us? And God, Macmanaman, Owen and Carra all grew up as bitters.
A professional footballer will play his best for whoever is paying his wages FFS!!
Ole Gunnar was a brilliant striker IMO, yes I hated the fucker when he scored against us but credit where it's due folks

I think I know what you're saying (spendiong his life as a sub) but he has more league winners medals than our whole squad put together, plus he's got a CL winners medal and plenty of other cup victories. How much more ambition can one man have/need??

I hear you. People crave for the days when loyalty was present in football, yet this is a lack of ambition...
He was at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and won tons of medals.
We are glad Gerrard didn't show more ambition eh....aren't we?

I really really liked him. Him Scholes and Giggs were the only Manc players I have respect for they are all quality players.

Spurious. Gerrard plays more than 90 mins a season.
He was a good finnisher, played really well for a couple of seasons, but I think not playing very often helped his reputation tbh.

In all fairness Manure were good to him following his injury problems and could have sold him (or put him out for rent ) a few years ago. Still a [email protected] though.

What a stupid post.
Anyone who says Ole Gunnar was a dirty player needs a head examination and a reality check.
A real ambassador for football and a great player.
Yes he did bring the Newcastle player down deliberately, but like you said, he did it to win the game and went straight off the pitch knowingly what he did was a red. How can that be a dirty player, we would have applauded if he was ours.

Nonsense. It was cheating. Unsporting behaviour. It was disgusting, player clean through on goal and the dirty manc was atleast 10 yards behind the ball. Everyone watching knew he had no chance so he hacked Rob Lee down. It was disgusting
No i would not have applauded any liverpool player doing that. But then i have never seen a liverpool player do something like that.
It was clear as day and truly disgusting

FLMAO!
You've never seen a liverpool player hack down a player?
Gerrard, Ruddock, Wright, Souness, etc etc. All done worse than this incident.
Yes it was clear as day, and it was deliberate, but not to injure, to stop a goal and win the game. It was not a sporting thing to do, but one incident of his whole career, name anything else he's done that's been unsporting or dirty.
