The verdict is what it is, a jury decision on specific charges. It's tragic that he hasn't been held responsible for his clear failings in any meaningful way, whether manslaughter or not.

That's that then 96 people were found to have been unlawfully killed but no one is to blame. Fuck right off.

I always thought the chances of a manslaughter verdict were slim
The trial gave everyone hope though

Even before that it was a long shot
Just look what is needed to show a guilty negligence mansalughter it's a very high bar
I didnt fancy a guilty vedict even before it went to trial

Fuck em
I was at Hillsborough and was in the crush outside the Leppings Lane End
Not a day goes by that I am not grateful for surviving that and it was literally by the scruff of my collar that I didnt end up down that tunnel
One of my mates who I played footie with died there
The inquest verdict was huge for me, I felt the stuff I had been saying for years to accuses was thoroughly vindicated
The trials gave the families hope but it was always a long shot imo

To be honest I would have been very surprised if he was found guilty, so am not surprised at the verdict. Personally I just don't think that there is enough proof that he was solely responsible and that his incompetence wasn't caused by a lack of training etc where it could be argued that he ultimately wasn't responsible (or at least that could be argued).
I imagine that a charge of corporate manslaughter against South Yorkshire Police would be successful if one could be brought, but this isn't possible because such a law didn't exist in 1989. The families have to work within this framework, so ultimately I think we are going to be left with the situation where 96 people were unlawfully killed, but no-one will ever be held responsible.

It should not be about responsibility but accountability. As the senior police officer in charge, he was accountable certainly for the Police actions on the day and arguably for the coordination of all the emergency services along with oversight of the stewards too.
So Duckenfield was the sole accountable individual on the day 96 people were unlawfully killed....
For me anything less than a custodial sentence for this self confessed liar is criminal.

The alteration of police pocket (evidence) books and statements has conveniently been swept then.

Incompetence is different to negligence in the eyes of the law
I fully expected this. It doesn't ease the disappointment but I would have been shocked if he had been found guilty

What I don't understand is I thought the inquest in 2016 found him guilty to a criminal standard? Didn't he even admit it was his fault?
So has that judgement now been wiped out in this trial?

Hillsborough: Minute's silence to mark anniversary of disaster
Liverpool players, staff and supporters will observe a minute's silence later to remember fans who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster.
Ninety-six men, women and children died when a crush developed during the FA Cup semi-final on 15 April 1989.
A final memorial service was due to be held at Anfield on the 31st anniversary of the tragedy but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The silence will be held at 15:06 BST, the time the match was halted.
A date for a full service will be confirmed in the "near future", the club said.
Liverpool FC said players and staff would observe the silence and flags would be flown at half mast throughout the day in memory of those who died in the UK's worst sporting disaster.
