Reading are a dead cert. I'm going for a long shot and calling Swansea into it.

I haven't really been keeping tabs, but as far as I could make out on some BBC reports Villa fans seem to be very unhappy. Are Villa that bad then?

Wouldn't be at all surprised - Fernandes and The Mittal's are investing an ungodly amount of money into the club and he's seemingly wasted a ton of it on buying a group of great players who (at the moment anyway) can't play together.

We have issues no doubt but we will not be relegated.
There are a good number of teams worse than us.

I think Southampton could get out of it but Villa looked doomed, they have so little quality.

We won't go down but I do see Bender's point...at the moment, we're playing fairly well but not picking up the points our play deserves. If we don't turn that around quickly, the players confidence will definitely be affected and we could be in trouble.

Hang on. We've been relegated last year, back up this year and top of the league. Bender is just late again.

I think it's easy to see why people would be demoralised after some decent performances and only 6 points to show for it.

Sorry mate was just joking.
I understand your feelings and I did have my doubts (and predicted that we were going to be struggling near the relegation zone). Though I think that we're improving lately. Key for sustained progress has got to be converting those winning performances into actual winning games, i.e converting our chances.
We'll be clearer to knowing if we'll be in a relegation dog fight after Christmas I guess. If we haven't put clear daylight between us and those teams, we'll have real ground to fear the worst.

well our next 3 league games are:
Liverpool v Reading
Everton v Liverpool
Liverpool v Newcastle
......lets see what that throws up .....hopefully at least 7 points would be the required minimum

I'm not usually given to making cast iron predictions about football but there is no way we are or will be in any kind of relegation fight this season or next.

You just never know. We are not looking good and could well be sucked into it. But we must give the manager time so people keep saying.

You only have to look at the results to get a decent guide as to where we are: we usually lose to the top clubs (Arsenal and Manchester United), draw with teams likely to finish between fifth and tenth (Stoke) and hammer teams that are likely to get relegated (Norwich).
Ok, it's only a small sample and it's impossible to be certain objectively that it reflects our ability or we won't get worse but as things stand we're likely to improve and even if we don't we're good enough.

Mate, he's just arrived and is overseeing an overhaul of playing personnel and playing style/tactics. It was never going to be an instant success. But yeah, the whole thing can either implode and we get relegated or it could all reveal itself to be a barking success.

This logic makes me feel a little bit better actually, so our next three games should yield about five points, Reading, Everton and Newcastle.
