Scottish Premier League
Uncomfortable looks amongst the pundits with the Dundee United crowd singing "Sheep shagging bastards" and Aberdeen retorting with "Dundee's a shithole, I want to go home"
Worth it just for that.
Danny Ward starting for the Dandy Dons today, he's been alright in the Europa games so far.
Wesley Sneijder's brother starting for Dundee United.

Geddin, 1-0 win for Aberdeen clean sheet for big Danny Ward and they looked comfortable in a difficult fixture.

Amazing really, at least we have some daylight between us and them that go the game.
Rivals Dundee and Dundee United are located on the same road.

The Dundee celebrations when they equalised at the end were fucking insane.
Reminded me of this, this day was fucking mad.

The Dandy Dons (Aberdeen) with their best start since 1991
Got to give credit to Hearts as well though, what a start they've got off to.
Danny Ward has been sensational since he joined Aberdeen, hope he goes there permanently!

So Aberdeen have matched the 5 out of 5 - let's see if its this thread's fault
What a start to the season though, I can't remember so many teams flying out of the blocks like this - maybe the last time was 10 years ago when Hearts pushed Celtic and Rangers for 15 games or so. The inevitable will happen and Celtic will pull away, but what a start!

Yeah, it's really refreshing.
I have really enjoyed following Heats for the last 18 months (from the comfort of my armchair) seeing the club revitalise and them introduce a lot of really talented young players. Get in a guy that nobody thought would be a good manager, but is absolutely brilliant.
It's an entirely different (and perhaps more enjoyable) experience than following LFC and all the big money signing bullshit.
The Dons are looking set too - I see you've taken another LFC loanee?
You are right though, Celtic have too much depth for anyone to live with them, but if John Collins keeps riling the rest of the league with his bullshit, they could get into a few feisty encounters.

Absolutely - there isn't the enormous disconnect between superstar multi millionaire and fan either, the whole thing feels a lot more symbiotic north of the border. Rangers getting bumped revitalised the game I reckon, though Celtic did their Old Firm best to bully Dundee United out of it.

Yeah. It's been good to not have that 'old firm' shite dominate the entire season.
Looks like New Co. FC will be back next season tho
So best enjoy this.

What do you guys make of the quality? I've lived in Edinburgh for 10 years now, and tried a few times to get into Scottish football, but I just can't, some of the stuff has been just bad. The Old Firm stuff doesn't help either, but even the last couple of years the lack of Rangers seems to have dragged Celtic's level down as well.

The quality is poor and has been for years - Celtic's dip was inevitable really given the lack of money in the league and the lack of Rangers to push them on (competition wise and financially).
That said, the difference in style between Aberdeen since McInnes and before McInnes is immeasurable - they're organised at the back, pass the ball and have a cutting edge up front. Its a long, long way from where they were under Granpaw Broon.

Same with Hearts, they endeavour to play football the right way.
Your never going to get that overall top end quality given the relative position of the teams, but it's great to see some young kids, who look destined for a career at the top come on and develop.
Plus, all the Champions League , Spanish footy can be boring as hell. Sometimes it's good to see a bit of blood and thunder

Big test today for Aberdeen! Celtic at home - they never so much as took apoint off them last season, so if they're going to challenge this season, they need to break some fucking green and white ducks. I'd even take a draw today.

Hmmm, yeah. It looks like they need to stabilise a bit.
First back to back defeats in over a season, and only the third defeat in 40 odd games, but they need to turn it round. Realistically winning the first 5 probably set unrealistic expectations, and 2 defeats in 7 is a more realistic reflection. Top 6 has to be the ambition, and a good run in a cup.
The mighty Dons up next at Tynecastle - could be a cracker.

They were riding the crest of a wave from last season, I still think they'll keep up form ad have a decent season - definite top half team, probably higher. We've seen in the past a strong 2nd tier season can carry over to the top of the Premiership - remember Livvy!
Really looking forward to this Celtic game - today could be a fucking amazing day for football, Aberdeen humping Celtic and Liverpool beating Utd!
Or it could end up really shit. I'm prepared

I'm in a real slump sports wise.
LFC losing, and looking a bit shit (imho )
Hearts losing 2.
Scotland being gash against Georgia and then heroic but losing against Germany.
Andy Murray losing
It's all putting a lot of pressure on the Scottish Rugby team to perform in the RWC
The thing with playing Celtic is they approach every game expecting to win, intimidate most teams, and then if it is not working out they have the strongest squad I. The league by miles to make changes.
I heard that the Celtic wage bill was higher than the rest of the league combined - that's what you are up against. I hope the Dons ram it right up them...
I certainly don't see us beating Utd...

Yeah, but Jamie Murray is in a Slam final today too! (Is it today )
Yeah, Celtic have the resources, so the only way to compete is to come out of the blocks flying and hope they start slowly, because by the end of the season their bigger squad kicks in and they just grind it out on size alone. Look at last season, they started slow, had a new manager and plenty of dodgy results. Aberdeen got close at one point, then they basically rip the heart out of Dundee United to bolster their squad, and by the end, despite it being close for a while, open up a gap of 17 points. Its fucking ludicrous. I can't stand the Old Firm twats. At least Aberdeen have started quick this year, they were far too lethargic last.

I'd forgotten about Jamie Murray
Yep, may as well enjoy this season as it will be business as usual next when Rangers return with there Hibs/Hearts high wage XI. I hate the OF also, the way the fixtures dominate the entire season... yeah the Mackay-Steven /Armstrong thing was a classic Old Firm manoeuvre.
