It's a tad unorthodox, but Rodgers is continually evolving.

That front six is fantastic.

And the depth could look really good too with a couple of likely signings.

Lucas Allen
Markovic Can Shaqiri

He seems to be the perfect signing for our current team but, as I don't want to jinx it, I'm going to say he's fookin shite and a waste of money already. Sell.

Good signing.
yeah with alex -

for me our 'current' starting XI (i include suarez for now) was pretty good. Prob missing a top left back and some 'legs' in midfield to help henderson out.

it's the overall squad which lacked quality/depth which needed improving.

providing the Can deal is 100% done - then it's look at getting a left back in and potentially a centre half....

all of which was wanted/needed before any hint of suarez going. So get them done and we'll be in better position.....

the suarez situation is seperate - it will be a shame to see him go, but if he does for say 50m and Sanchez - well we'd have a better squad with some quality players with a nett spend of about 20m

I agree he's a good signing, much needed for the squad but I don't agree he's a guaranteed starter or at least IMO he shouldn't be.

Coutinho stepped up massively in most of our big games last year, sketchy form at time but he's important to us and Sterling is going to become a superstar!

I'm not sure he'd work alongside Henderson and Gerrard, I think Allen is a better fit and if we wanted to improve that position we should have brought in someone who actually plays that role.

Hope he does well, I just don't want to see Coutinho bombed.

i don't think he will be.

it's healthy to have competition for places and with the additional champions league games and hopefully better runs in the cups, there will be plenty of opportunities for the players.

We could have around 60 games next year with a strong run in the CL and a cup. We will need all the bodies we can.

I'm not sure he's actually leaning on that shelf. He seems to be standing in front of it.

Could we employ some of FIFA's goal line technology to clear this up please mods?

Got a lot to live up to in the #20 shirt. Mascherano's old number.

And, er:
Bjornebye
Barmby
Le Tallec
Spearing
Aly Cissokho
Scott Carson

Maybe not so much.

Bit overpriced but aren't they all. Man Utd have just bought a fucking teenage left back for 34m FFS

Lallana will slot in seamlessly and fits us perfectly both in terms of attacking skills and also a ferocious work rate. Can't wait to see him play for us.

Completely over priced & only had one good season in top fight but he is a good player though. Great business by Southampton and fair play to them for holding firm on Lallana and Shaw.. hopefully Lallana flourishes in our system.

Jeez we know how much he cost, we can all read. You can moan about it in a couple of seasons if he's been rubbish, but until then, you have no idea if the role he's going to perform is value or not.

So knock it off.

I know he a bit overpriced but I'm happy that Brendan gets his man in. He obviously values him highly and I think it's important to get his priority targets in.

He is also a leader, captained Southampton since 2012 and seems to relish the responsibility.

thing is tho mate, what's a 15m player nowadays? Everton played 13m or so for James McCarthy. and i'd say lallana will have a big impact for us and southampton didn't want to sel

Every year there's inflation, every year transfer fees get more ridiculous. Its probably a bit over what you'd expect, but if he's going o be a first teamer, the fee is what you'd expect to pay to enhance the squad.

Prices are getting silly, 20 million for Moreno? 30 million for Luke Shaw? You don't get anything for 10 million nowadays.

Welcome Mr Lallana.

Absolutely no chance he won't be a starter after spending that amount of money on him. Be interesting to see how we line up if Suarez stays but I don't think we'll have that problem!

Exciting player considering what he's done at Southampton. Should fit us like a Sakho glove and frankly we shouldn't worry about the cash, we earned virtually 100m in prize money from the league alone last year.

brilliant, one of the players who impressed me most last season, hope he can replicate the same form for us.

and talk about possibillities(Rafa would have loved this)

johnson\flanno-škrtel\wisdom?\toure-sakho\agger-enrique\moreno?
gerrard\can\lucas\hendo\allen\lallana
sterling\phil\ibe\sanchez?\suso\borini
and sturridge\lambert in attack

all that assuming we let luis go, and if not it even more amazing of a lineup
