Title Race 18/19
Might as well embrace the challenge now and have somewhere to document it
in 13/14 for me it was Fulham game in February that it felt real, i've got the same tension in fucking August
enjoying the boiling piss of rival fans already. City are ridiculous but if we actually manage to do it, it would be all the more sweeter for it.
This song is no doubt going to come back and bite us on the arse

we're top and they don't like it (The reds are taking over) Guardiola, Guardiola.
Shame we've wasted that tune on him. Naby Keita would have been a nice fit.

Basically we're down to a 35 game season. Treat every one as a cup final and see how close we get.

I would, but our recent cup final record & Klopp's leaves a lot to be desired!

Might as well move to general football and maybe have a relegation thread where we can talk about 10 more wins and a draw to stay in the league instead
Klopp is blatantly gunning for it, we have a squad to have a go, are we not allowed a bit of optimism and hope?
The real battle for us is the coming months until the new year, 7 of the 10 games with the big six will be done by the 1st Jan, of the 3 remaining, two at home.
If we are anywhere remotely close come the new year its well on and we could have a Fekir replacement to add into the mix, when the CL and league cup fixtures are added in its a game every 3 days pretty much until then, going to be brutal.

This isn't bravado, it's just a thread with a shelf life as long as our title charge continues.
As of today we're in the title race (top of the table!) as are dozens of other teams. They'll fall and maybe we will. If so then this thread dies. If we charge back up again, it resurrects.
Keep it.

Yep.
It's not like your "Top Of The League" thread after about three games one recent season.

Next five games. I think we'll already have a clear outline of the title race once we get through these. 11 points or more and I'll be on board the fuckin hype train

There we have it folks, we're not winning the league this year because we have too much depth. F*cking amateur Klopp.

I think we'll win it if (when) Salah, Keita and Fabinho start performing the way we expected them to. This is not a criticism of anyone, Salah has been far from poor both in numbers and performances, but we all know how much more he can do. Same with Keita, but apart from WHU he's mostly been merely decent and he definitely deserves time to settle, but his Leipzig performances were something else. Fabinho hasn't even played yet, but having those kind of players on form makes us 100% unbeatable.
Before the season started, my worry was defence, but Alisson has proven to be great, Joe Gomez is fuckin mint with Van Dijk and Lovren is about to return. If anything it's been the best part of our team so far. Hopefully others can keep on grinding results until that 'click' happens, when it does I can't see us getting stopped.
Another thing, I like how we were able to produce so many chances yesterday even without playing too well, but some of the players need a slap around their cock for wasting theirs. For me the most annoying one was Mane choosing to shoot from a volley with his back to the goal rather than passing it to Keita, which was a certain goal. Put your fuckin team first when you're 1 or 2-up...

daylight at the top
Christmas 2013 we were top then played Chelsea and City and outside the top 4 before the new year.
Nice little cushion for us given our next two, mad we could beat Chelsea be 7 out of 7. Then bumped off the following week. Going to take a massive points total to win this year
two cracking games coming up

we should have a fair few more goals, and goal difference could be important.
We were almost messing about at 2-0 spurs and 3 nil yesterday, nice to have a solid backline covering the forwards as they bailed us out enough last season

crucial.
if we would have had this goalkeeper and back four last year and when we went close with rodgers we would have won the title both times.
its been great scoring a pile of goals but its also been so frustrating watching us chuck away wins and conceding stupid goals at the other end.
we are better placed and have better balance than we have had for many many years.
dont screw it up now...

all that chopping and changing is a killer for any defence.

1000-1 to win our next 32?
I reckon if we played this season 1000 times, we would get one perfect season there... it not like we are up against Thanos.

Multiple that by 1,000 again and we still wouldn't. Even if we just concentrated on those 32 games and had no other distractions, it still wouldn't happen IMO.
I also imagine a 32 game accumulator would pay a bit more than 1000-1.

Thanos is a tricky one for me. I mean, he's good in the air, has a great right-foot and has an air of invincibiloity about him.....but what about his left foot? And does he work hard enough or track back enough to get into a Klopp team? I'm not convinced...

He would excel in a Klopp team. He leads by example, is great tactically, takes the fight to the other team, mentally strong, and is prepared to take the hits if that is what it takes to get the result.
Klopp would have the armband on him in a snap.
