I must admit I was saving that stat for our tenth win on the bounce.

United won their first ten then imploded.

Yeah, do recall that...under Big Ron who went on a spending spree that summer & brought in the likes of Jesper Olsen who was a decent player but a bad injury to one of their defenders & Bryan Robson put paid to their season after that run...mind you, they rode their luck in that run so weren't all that!

30 games at an average of 2/5 is 24,000/1

Id want around 500/1 just for correctly predicting WDL split of 32 games never mind predicting each individual outcome

The extra 2 games makes it 47435/1.

For the full 38 games, the actual odds would be 357162/1.

So, 1000/1 you say?

It's tight at the top. Three unbeaten teams level on 20 points after seven games.

And we've played two of them already.

If we can somehow start hitting top gear, we're very well placed.

Otherwise, we're showing we can grind out results, whilst not aesthetically pleasing, is nonetheless a progress of a different sort.

We need to get the front three firing, defence has been good but the offence has been fairly dire the last few games

I wonder if it’s worth trying to mix it up a bit, or trying Mane and Salah on different wings - just alter the dynamic a bit and see what comes out of it.

8 games right - 6 wins and 2 draws - 20 from 24...?

looking at the table if Spurs beat City next week, City will probably drop to fifth in the table.

I think us being in pack challenging them definitely helps us rather than 1 on 1 scrap.

That canít be right? If we win next Sat and City lose to Spurs we are top on our own. Spurs can only go too if we lose at home to Cardiff.

It is tight tho.

over a quarter of the season gone, on course for 98/99 points and still outsiders to win the league

Think their know how and depth will do us eventually. Psychological advantage with the goal difference.

Us and city are still going to go up several levels as the season progresses.

Think we are more likely to win in Europe.Looking at the rest of the clubs, its only city/barca that we wont do easily over two legs. That format suits us much better.

I have a feeling that City are worried about us.

It's going to be interesting to see how this pans out. Both teams will drop some silly points. It's how they react to those that will be the difference.

If we beat Arsenal on Saturday, it will be a huge statement. Manchester Derby the week after that.

Football is good again.

I have City as the clear favourites and Chelsea are just as likely as us. BUT, I do feel we might have more left in reserve, I feel we are still to peak, we've been grinding out wins and carrying our attacking players to an extent and Keita and Fabinho are still finding their feet.

I think we might improve still but I think City are playing near their peak levels now.

Next game is massive.

Unless I'm mistaken that QPR team then came to Anfield and we destroyed them 4-0 with Barnes getting a couple of wonderful goals.

Yep. They might have even been top at that point as the collapsed sewer beneath the Kop had meant some postponed games for us.

QPR were annihilated.

Ha, yes.

The Mighty Reds video probably has a lot to do with that.
