Cant wait for this. A nice distraction but still important. They've not been great this season and are laughable at the back at times but seem to have improved a bit since the break and are still Bayern Munich.

Hard to see us keeping a clean sheet at home with the defence we'll field, wouldn't surprise me if this goes a bit like the Roma games did. I don't think they can cope if we are on it but who knows what injuries and illness our training camp will bring beforehand. In to these bums!

That's a great line up there

Milner, Shaqiri and Origi to come on as subs.

Possibility that Fab maintains his midfield role and Henderson plays as CB?

Also, might Lovren make it back for this match?

So how much do we care about this tie? At the moment these two games are unlikely to disrupt our league form...but if we get to the next round and beyond? I know the club would never admit it, but don't we have to prioritise the league? We need our first 11/12 ready to fight like dogs in every league game. CL comes second, right? (I have put my hard hat on...)

Given we are out of the FA cup and the teams we are playing on future FA cup dates are out also, there isn't much a pile up if we get to the quarters. Free midweeks before and after the quarters.

I think it's probably a nice pressure free distraction for the squad at the moment.

Assess as we go I suppose. These two legs are fine then the quarters aren't till April, 7 league games in that time so a lot could have changed for better or worse in the table.

The semi's are mad though. Imagine if we had a CL semi second leg v City, Utd, Barcelona or someone 4 days before we play for the title v Wolves!

We only have this and the league. It's not that many games. No need to prioritise either. We go full out to win both.

Naby's natural role is deeper though I would swap him with Hendo Stick Shaq there instead

Gini was the most advanced of the 3 on Saturday. Let him and Keita continue as they were, with Henderson standing in for Fabinho as DM.

If I was Bayern I'd be shitting it knowing we have 9 days or so of warm weather training to prepare for this game.

True, it seemed like we overloaded the righthand side with Naby sitting deeper on LCM with Fab CM / DM and Gini gave a lot more freedom to break the lines with Robbo providing the with on the left.

It will be interesting to see how we line up against United, amazing United practically have played a different line up nearly every game since Whiskey Nose took over, with their favoured line up 433, with Pogba in his prefered LCM role. I think we stick Gini on him, he makes this new United tick. I think we tactically play our cards right, we can rip them a new arsehole, they leave players up high and, play a risky game, they will not have felt pressure like we can put on them.

We are moving into the Business end of the season, and i am enjoying every minute of it. Every single game, up for it

Bayern are playing right now and lookto have fielded a strong side as they’re chasing a 5 point deficit in the Bundesliga. One down at present

They were made to work hard to beat a no name team & there’s no easy games for them as they chase Dortmund.

Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman is a doubt for his side’s Champions League clash with Liverpool on Tuesday after limping out of their 3-2 win at Augsburg.

Coman scored twice to bring his side back from behind before David Alaba scored a second-half winner which helped Bayern reduce the gap to the Bundesliga leaders, Borussia Dortmund, to two points.

But Coman suffered an apparent recurrence of a left ankle injury deep into injury time, which forced him to hobble from the field. The Bayern coach Niko Kovac told Eurosport: “We will have to see what happened to Kingsley. According to the doctors, it does not look that good at the moment.”

Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman has been declared fit to play against Liverpool in Tuesday's Champions League last-16 first leg at Anfield.

Coman, 22, went off injured after scoring two goals as Bayern twice came from behind to beat Augsburg on Friday.

But the Bundesliga club posted on social media on Saturday: "Good news! The doctors have given Kingsley Coman the all clear."

Might be a pie in the sky, but `I reckon Klopp may go with a 3-5-2 against Munich - Fab and Hendo next to Matip, full backs push on with Gini and Shaq in the middle. Front 3 as is

feels like we've become quite spoilt with riches when it comes him, Alisson and Robertson.

Going into games with Mignolet, Matip, Lovren, Moreno used to be the norm

Almost wiped out my memory of us before Virg.

There’s no way we’d play Shaq +1 as central midfield. That’d be madness against Huddersfield, never mind Bayern!

Let's hope he dislikes it even more after Tuesday:

https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/arjen-robben-anfield-220061

Arjen Robben names Liverpool's ground Anfield as his least favourite stadium to play in.

Bayern Munich take on Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League tie, but their talismanic winger Arjen Robben has admitted that it is his least favourite stadium - at least in terms of coming and playing there as opposition.

In an interview with the Guardian, Robben said “I think, if you ask [about] the worst stadium for me, it’s probably Liverpool. You always have your favourite opponent and there always has to be a negative one.”

He also acknowledged that it was 'the worst possible draw' for Bayern when the fixture was announced.

Robben suffered two heartbreaking Champions League semi-final exits at Anfield whilst playing for Chelsea in 2004/05 and 2006/07. The first came through the infamous Luis Garcia 'ghost goal' that will live long in the memory for Blues fans, the second through a penalty shoot-out in which his spot-kick was saved by Pepe Reina.

Interestingly, Robben notes the difference he sees between the current Liverpool team under Jurgen Klopp and the Rafa Benitez-led side he faced over a decade ago, which he believes didn't have the same strength in depth to consistently challenge on all fronts and match their impressive Champions League runs with a substantial Premier League title challenge.

“At that time [Liverpool] were really capable of being this cup fighter team, also in the FA Cup or [League] Cup,” he explained. “In one or two games they could really live up to it and perform; just not the whole season, which was maybe too much."

He doesn't, however, think this is the case with the Reds this season, who look to be the real deal, even if they do fall short of a first league title in 28 years.

“Now I think it changed and they developed really well. The manager has done a great job. Last year they were in the Champions League final and at the moment they are top [of the Premier League]. It’s a long, long time ago that they won the league and that’s the one they’re dreaming of," he told the Guardian.

It is Robben's tenth and final season with the Bavarian club and he will be hoping to add another European title to his winner's medal from 2012/13, although judging from his comments, he knows that even getting over this first knockout hurdle won't come easy.
