Surprised no one has mentioned Alonso's exploits in Indianapolis.
I have been suprisingly interested in this (well, I've read a couple of articles on the BBC website).
Qualified in 5th place for the race next week, which is very impressive by all accounts.

Impressive given he had engine trouble that meant he dropped some time. Could've been third or possibly second.

He's an impressive sportsman being criminally wasted at McLaren. It'll be a whole different challenge actually racing around an oval at close quarters against drivers with years of experience. I reckon a top ten finish would be a win for him.

Poor sod tries another racing sport and still gets car trouble. He must feel jinxed at the moment!

This is a lot more watchable than boring F1.

Maybe. And I'm not about to become a fanboi either.
It doesn't make any odds to me who is in 5th (or 7th in Monaco).
This is a better spectacle than F1 and a bit more tense after that horrible crash.
It reminds me of touring cars in some ways.

This is their blue riband event, so its fair to say its a spectacle.
Indy is more basic and there's a far higher skill and ability level in F1. Its a lot easier to make the swap to Indy from F1 than vice versa, there have only ever been a handful of successes coming into F1. The reason I mentioned Chilton is that he was a fairly shite F1 driver whose biggest achievement was to finish successive races.
But whatever, you don't care about that

F1's blue riband was quite unspectacle-ish earlier by all accounts.
But, yeah, I don't doubt what you say

Monaco is generally shit, and its a well known anachronism - its one for the celebs and business deals. The real blue riband events are the Italian, Belgian, British, Japanese and Brazilian GPs.

Still, it is good to see Alonso fighting for a win. F1 has missed him as a contender - what a waste.

F1 no hoper backmarker who paid for his seat in a bad team. He was painfully out of his depth in F1

On his day, unbeatable. Lewis had that race sewn up as soon as he pulled away - great performance all weekend, and some more evidence that Mercedes are pulling away from Ferrari in the development race too. They should have won in Baku, won in Austria easily and a 1-2 against the odds here yesterday. Vettel was losing his head again - its quite possible this season's Mercedes v Ferrari battle will end up a Mercedes top two finish again.

Interesting.... Ferrari have the car with the pace but not picking the wins. Mercedes should be concerned, especially because their 2nd driver is having a crisis of confidence too.

Don't think they care about the 2nd driver. They are miles ahead in the constructors and its all about Lewis for them. Also helps that Kimi inst exactly setting the world alight
They will be concerned about the emergence of Red Bull though. Them 2 getting between Seb and Lewis would really cause issues

The second driver should be providing assistance to the lead driver in a driver's championship bid though. He should be taking points of Vettel but doesn't look up to it just now.

Nah, I meant it's nice and wide so there's opportunities to give it a go.
This build up is fucking cringe worthy
