How good was this. Someone in the replies says "I thought he was going to usher him out of the stadium"

When someone is this good for such a long time you just take it for granted with their game.

Think Virgil was the catalyst for all this greatness.

Particularly like this comment:

I have had the pleasure of making a film with Virgil and therefore spent time with him. I can say I was hugely impressed by him as a human. Absolutely top mentality, humility, attitude, hunger, focus, professionalism - and totally unaffected by his success and the hype that surrounds him. Hes an awesome talent but its rare you get the entire package. With Virgil you do. He deserves all the success that comes his way.

I used to think he was a pretty good player. But he just could not handle Torres.

I think he was good. Just nowhere near as good as van Dijk.

Virgil is quicker, stronger, better in the air, better on the ball, better reader of the game, doesn't get sent off all the time...etc.

Not in this instance. It's deliberately going out of your way to find offence in something on other people's behalf. Girls have more role models than ever before. They'll be fine, trust me.

Yeah most will be fine I'm sure, shame a small subset of male fucking morons that grow up constantly hearing the narrative of the weak female will not give a fuck about that.

an article about an opposing player praising one of ours gets taken down this route. The worlds burning and you chose this as your line in the sand? Relax.

Forster's right. This narrative is damaging. Damaging to my chances of getting in a lifeboat first.

Little boys...
children...
a weak person...

Each of those might upset that subset.

Probably need to start banning words and metaphors.

I think you can joke about something and respect it. Or maybe I am out of touch. I guess I am getting old now.

Best in the last 35 years. Staam, Hyypia Ferdinand are up there. Kompany, maybe. Van Dijk is on is own though. Just perfect in every metric.

Dont really remember well the likes of Hansen. I do remember seeing him in a few games late 80s,but pretty much the whole team looked top notch. And there was no Europe to compare top level. But I was hardly old enough to appreciate what I was seeing.

Fitness levels are so much better now, and Van Dijk still purrs across the pitch like my cat pads around the garden knowing it is top of the food chain out there.

Never has a player seemed so irreplacable.

I don't think any of them changed a team as much as Dijk. I don't think any player at all has.

Staam and Ferdinand came into a successful side (not their fault, but it's true). Hyypia was immense but he didn't get us over that line.

Van Dijk just totally transformed us overnight. He's one of the best things to ever happen to this club.

Kompany could possibly be in that group, he was Cities defence when they transformed, just look at the state of their defence as he's aged, but the rest of 'em aren't.

I'd say Alisson has also made a huge difference. Just rewatched the Barca semi 2nd leg agaiin, without him in the side as well as VVD we'd have gone out.

No doubt. But virg came in 6 months before and fixed us enough to get us to a CL final and a decent unbeaten run.

Allison is just icing. Amazingly good icing that's almost as good as the cake, but still icing
