Liverpool vs Chelsea - UEFA Super Cup
UK:
Wednesday 14th August at 8:00pm
Australia
Perth Time: 15th August at 3:00am
QLD Time: 15th August at 5:00am
NSW/VIC: 15th August at 5:00am
NT Time: 15th August at 4:30am
Live on Optus Sports
-------------------
This is it!
Our first chance at a major trophy for the new season! The fortunes of each team's opening game were polar opposites with a delta of 7 goals - 4-1 to us and 4-0 against them.
We should have a very settled, fully fit first XI while they have a bunch of stale, disjointed has-beens managed by a thunderfuck of a Tory.
Fuck them, let's smash the fuck out of this final and add a new shiny thing to add to our other recently acquired shiny thing

If he plays Jorginho and Kovacic in CM they will will smash them. I think though after that shambles he'll start Kante. Pulisic and Giroud will start to I reckon. Hopefully Willian & Rudiger don't make it. Their backline is atrocious, we really could smash these into oblivion if we go full tilt.

No doubt Chelsea will play far better than they did yesterday.
We should still beat them.
Really want to win this actually. It would take us to 4 UEFA Super Cup wins. The most is Barca and Milan both with 5.

Chelsea didn't deserve 4-0 yesterday. They had control for the majority but they were very vulnerable to counter attacks.

First half they were the better team, but second half they fell apart. They are definitely lacking a main goalscorer.
I think with Pulisic and Kante in the team (suspect both will start against us), they'll be a lot more competitive.

I agree that Tammy Abraham looks way way out of his depth.

Chelsea got schooled by the counter attacks of United. Ours should be more lethal. The fact that Mane came on the other night, do people think he will start the game? I think if we start with our front 3, then it could be goals galore for us.
However, on the other side of the coin, we were open as fuck against Norwich the other night. And a better team would have scored a few more goals against us. Hopefully Virgil tightens that up. But I would think that with Alisson also out, that could help Chelsea. If I was Lampard, then I'd be telling my players to shoot on sight for the first 20 minutes or so.
When all is said and done though, we are better than them. So if we are on our game, then we win.

Its Lampards biggest game as a manager and it is 2 games into a new job. His first final as a manager, and his first European fixture.
Losing 4-0 in a game they played better for large periods must be a worry for him, and he has exactly one seasons worth of Championship experience to delve into to figure out what happened. He seems to be relying on the younger players, and again you have all the issues he has as an inexperienced manager with them as players, first games in Europe first finals etc. Chelsea looked ordinary last season with Hazard elevating them in pretty much every game, without him, they look mediocre.
Losing is not an option for us. We have built a robustness and should have too much quality to lose this one. The only thing I can see in Chelseas favour is this is pretty much a free hit.

Watching them against United was interesting.
They tried to press quite high with energy a lot of the time but their execution was mixed and United often found an easy way around it.
This suits LFC. If Chelsea improve their pressing execution, they can cause problems but I think this will take Lampard way more time to fix than Wednesday.

Thanks to the Premier League's scheduling extra time here would be a fucking nightmare so hopefully we get them twatted. If it's level at 85mins or so then turn it in to a basketball game a bit like Spurs at Anfield last season.

I think we will.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Matip come in for Gomez. And perhaps Naby in midfield either. Plus Mane for Origi.

SALAH-------------------------FIRMINO------------------------------MANE
How many subs are ya allowed in this thing??? Hopefully its something like the charity shield where 6 are allowed. Would be brilliant to get this game boxed off before the hour and bring on a few subs.
Would like to see Brewster get some minutes if its possible.

I'd be surprised if we drop Origi. What sort of message would it send after convincing him to extend his contract and then dropping him after he plays well and scores?
After the Alisson incident, I also think we'll be less likely to rush Mane back.

he brought on Mane when we had the game v Norwich won - a half an hour or so after the Alisson incident.
Origi knows he is 4th choice.

Origi will be a great impact player for us and get game time but Mane is one of the best forwards in the world. As soon as he is fit, he will be straight back in.

Yep the usual front 3 will definitely start this one IMO. Origi knows the score, he'll have to continuously play out of his skin if he's going to keep any of them out of the team.
I think the goal for Origi is to be the first one to come in once one of them drops out of the team.

I would be surprised if Mane starts, I imagine that he'll come on as a sub again maybe for the last half hour, that said this could go to extra time and pens so depending on his fitness and the game situation he might leave it a bit longer.

Not disputing Origi is 4th choice, but why risk Mane if we don't have to? Everybody is worried that we don't have cover for the front 3, so why take a chance? We should have more than enough to beat Chelsea with Origi in the team, so I see no reason to drop him for this game.
I'll be surprised if Origi doesn't start this game, but then again I was convinced Matip would start against Norwich, so what do I know...

I think we'll use this as the friendly it is. A pretty strong line up with a bit of rotation in midfield and I also see no reason to not continue a period of relative rest for Mane.
Adrian
Trent Matip VVD Robbo
Fabinho
Milner Keita
Origi Firmino Salah
We might even see Ox IMO.

Most of our subs are better than the majority of their first teamers. Ox, Shaq, Lallana, Keita, Milner, Origi. Only Klopp knows if they're match ready though.

Yup over two years ago! The only games I streamed were Cup games as they aren't covered by Optus.

It's important for the club and players to win this and the CWC in order to developing a winning mentality. Losing the CS to City was disappointing and probably hurt the players mentally. Yet again, coming second place to Man City. A couple more final victories will reinforce the winning mentality in the squad.

Yeah I really hope we wallop these fuckers. I absolutely detested Lampard when he played for them but for some reason my attitude to him softened since he retired and went to Derby so it's good to feel the old hatred flood back. After the way they treated Rafa, they deserve a foreseeable future of trouncings.
