Guess it was built up over time & they haven't been able to purchase the land on that side - looks like there's a road running along side it too but this shouldn't be a problem for expansion...

Yep - 'La Bombonera was built between 1938 and 1940, and, as the legend goes, received its name because the architect suddenly realised the similarities between the stadium and a chocolate (bombon) he was eating.

La Bombonera at that time had stands on three sides. The fourth side was left open with just a few VIP boxes and an obelisk, which was because of a lack of space due to the residential buildings just across the street.'

I'm not in the least bit surprised.

It might not need ratification, it could be in the hands of the Home Office.

Something like this could very well be on the cards, could be worth looking at some English players, like Maddison, Gray maybe?

We have a few English players but some of them will need replacing soon, Sturridge, Milner, Lallana and Hendo.

OK so it's UK law not Premier League or FA, can't read the article.

I think under the current system, to be HG you have to have been in an academy X long before a certain age. So Robertson doesn't count as he was in Scotland.

I have no idea, haven't read the article either

But to deny a British citizen employment in Britain, based on some kind arbitrary homegrown criteria doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me, nor does it sound hugely legal.

Absolute joke that, he got millions for doing the tv deal as well as the huge wage he's on anyway. Ridiculous.

They'll all pay up - the TV money he has helped bring in has made these clubs ludicrously wealthy...

He's on £2.5m a year as it is. Just totally fucking disgusting. That dough could save a number of lower league clubs from going out of business, then you think of the absolute state grassroots football is in, and a whole load of other charitable stuff that could benefit from this sort of donation.

Even by football's standards, I struggle to see how anyone could have thought that this is a good idea.

Utterly perplexing. These people truly live in a bubble.

Can't they just let him play in an England friendly instead?

Thanks to the Premier league the big clubs have made billions, I can *sort of* see where they are coming from, the game is gone so not sure why people are shocked all of a sudden.

250k is what we give Lallana and Sturridge a week, fuck all really.

The talk of giving the money to grassroots, Scuamore should have sorted a percentage of the tv deal and possibly even transfers should have going to grassroots a long time ago not a token gesture now.

Its a fitting legacy to the Premier League era of greed that he gets his money.

"She added: "The referee forgot his coin and in that moment, in a TV game, he was really pushed for time"

Confirms to me Klopp allegation from last season when he said that the ref told him o little time was added on to avoid disrupting TV schedules

With non-compete agreements it makes more sense - it is in effect a recompense for not joining the Spanish/Italian FA etc. and then making them the money bag that is the Premier League. I don't like it but I get it..

Would he have the same effect there?

Much of the driver for big money PL deals started with Sky needing worthwhile content didn't it - the perfect storm or whatever the phrase is?
