Seems like one of the boats also spent some time in Glasgow?

Reminisce away Rowan, Spud and Lecter.

I bet that got messy

Love the aspirational nature of the names of these places.

Like those boats have ever been near a tuxedo, let alone a princess.

Sporting integrity of the league. Everyone should play everyone else with the same squad so nobody gets to play weaker teams. The window should be shut when games are played. The Jan window isn't ideal, but pretty much marks the half way point so at least everyone generally plays the same number of games against the same squads. But it's not good enough and should be scrapped.

This is insane. Seems so arbitrary. Why 10cm? Why is 10cm ok? What if you're 11cm offside? Why is that offside and 10cm isn't? Why, in a bid to improve the current shambles, would they decide to piss around measuring 10 fucking centimetres?!

I've posted on match day threads that the VAR implementation when it comes to offside is spot on. Offside is offside is offside . There's been a fair amount that disagree with that and the question then is 'well what's acceptable?' If this is the answer then

Offside is offside. VAR is great when it comes to deciding that

This proposal isn't any more the answer than the current flawed system.

I won't go into the details again, as I've done it ad nauseum already.

You have defended it well admittedly

If having a buffer is the answer then it surely only muddies the water more

Well no.

Make the buffer out of something you can measure accurately. Like pixels on the screen you're viewing the replay on. Not centimetres on a football pitch.

It's not just a case of accurately measuring distances, but of timing and velocity.

Anyway, I'm on the road to going on about it again so I'll just....

So if the equipment that measures offside is exact, then is having a zero buffer ok?

Cool. So they need to improve the measuring device/method but essentially offside's sorted by VAR. Begs the question, sorry, that if the current equipment is giving a blurred result then any buffer needs to work in both directions therefore the middle reading is still the same

Make the VAR lines a little thicker, and if they overlap, then it's not clear and obvious and benefit goes to the attacking team.

Why not just follow the IFAB guidelines:

“Clear and obvious still remains – it’s an important principle. There should not be a lot of time spent to find something marginal.”

“If something is not clear on the first sight, then it’s not obvious and it shouldn’t be considered."

“Looking at one camera angle is one thing but looking at 15, trying to find something that was potentially not even there, this was not the idea of the VAR principle. It should be clear and obvious.”

All this 10cm thing does is shift the margin by 10 cm.

That 'clear and obvious' wording will be getting changed soon to accommodate VAR.

It can't because not all tiers of football use VAR so the rule needs to be fit for purpose for them

Swiss Ramble in Milan - moral of the story is they are fucked through a series of shocking decisions mainly in the transfer market

Buying and selling players 'properly' is a prerequisite to any form of success. Throwing money at it doesn't work

The Premier League will not take any action against referee Jon Moss after Bournemouth alleged he made comments during Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United, says BBC Radio Solent.

Cherries midfielder Dan Gosling says Moss showed "zero respect" and was a "disgrace" for making "sarky comments" about their league position.

The Football Association will also not be taking any action against Gosling.

Bournemouth are 16th in the table, two points above the relegation zone.

Bournemouth and Gosling consider the matter closed, but back their player unequivocally after the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, who are are responsible for match officials in English professional football and the Premier League decided no action was necessary against Moss.

Moss apologised to Bournemouth's Adam Smith in 2017 after wrongly booking the defender.

And while Moss again irritated the Cherries players on Sunday with some of his decisions, Gosling says the official also made disparaging comments about the club being in a relegation battle.

"The ref didn't help. Giving soft fouls away and little comments to two or three of the lads didn't help as well really," Gosling told the Daily Echo.

"I thought it was very disrespectful what he was saying.

"It was just the little niggly ones and then the little sarky comments.

"The officials talk about respect at the start of the season and there was zero respect from Jon Moss on Sunday.

"The comments that he made especially to me and one other player - talking about the relegation zone and 'you're still in the relegation zone', 'you're having one', 'your team's having one' this and that and it was very, very disrespectful."

Gosling confirmed the comments were made during the game before adding: "I think he should really come out and apologise because I thought he was a disgrace."

Sunday was the first occasion this term that Moss had taken charge of a game involving Bournemouth.

I think it's atrocious. He's supposed to be unbiased, sledging one of the teams certainly isn't the best sign of it.

And they can't give him shit back because they're supposed to "respect", what kind of message does it send?

Should be suspended.

Nah.

The amount of grief they get on and off the pitch, they're completely entitled to give some back. A lot of players thrive on that "banter" with the ref too.

It's the culture of football. From Sunday league in the park to the top of the game.

Storm in a teacup.

Not for one minute do I believe he gave them shit without provocation. From the comments above, it sounds like it came from their reaction to him giving freekicks against them.

There's an (obviously long but quite interesting) article about how the referees have handled the idiots, and indeed been complicit in the idiocy of their trade in The Athletic.

I'll post it if anyone wants.
