There was a moment in the build up to kick off on Saturday, VVD went out of his way to touch the Liverpool crest on the wall of the stadium as the players got off the coach and walked to the dressing room.

I think this club is in his blood now, well and truly.

Anyone who was near this team at the mullering of barcalona has experienced some sort of epiphany moment and will forever be a red

“No-one beats him in the air,” said Fabinho. “And I think he’s now gone 64 games without being dribbled past.

“He’s fast. And it’s funny that it seems like he doesn’t have to make much effort to run. He does it that way, like a big guy, and he easily gets to the ball.

“Balls in the air are funny. The ball comes and we just hear him shouting 'VIRG!'. And you can let it pass, whoever the attacker is.

“Against Manchester (United), he impressed me. We were going to play against Romelu Lukaku. I thought ‘hey Lukaku has his size, let’s see if he will hold up’.

“My God. Every air ball, it was ‘VIRG!’, he would run over. You hear ‘VIRG!’, you get out of the way, because he will come running over.”

Fabinho, speaking via SportsWitness on Globo's Hoje Sim Podcast, added: “I sit between him and Wijnaldum in the locker room. And Van Dijk is a big child. He just plays, makes jokes.

“Off the pitch he’s a very good guy. And on the pitch he is the guy who shouts the most. Who shouts at everyone and everyone is like ‘okay’.

And he’s not afraid of whoever he screams at – gives everyone a scolding. He has a thick voice, you can hear him from afar.”
VIRG!!

VIRG is the Dutch equivalent of 'coming through' or 'CHAAARRGGE'

The rest of that interview talks about how Millie and Hendo were the two players who really made an effort to make him feel welcome... and they both played in his position. He sounded a bit surprised by that.

Made me feel all warm inside... What a wonderful team ethic Klopp has inspired.

Definitely wany Millie to stay on in some capacity... even if it is just to shame the rest of the squad in cardio sessions.

So glad Fab finally settled in, though. Just surprised it took so long to replace Mascherano. Same thing when we sold Hamman. (and even Mcmahon with Ince). We seem to be a far better team with a ballwinner in the side... without it we are ordinary or lighweight.

I found it so frustrating year after year not to have signed one, as it just seemed so obvious. We all know how Klopp will wait to get his man... so I can give him a pass.

Fab does not even strike me as particularly agressive for a ball winning goliath. Just reads the game so well, like Hamman. Really hope we can keep hold of him. Im hoping Countinho's failure at Barca will make our players look up and think, is it worth giving up the spirit and potential of this team, at the risk of becoming unfashionale, and being spat out by the Barca/Madrid machine.

Top post and agree 100% with all the sentiments.
I have been about our hollow midfield and lack of beef and fabinho helps make a massive difference, missing piece of the jigsaw

Pique's 32, Ramos is 33, Chiellini is 34 (35 in August), Bonucci is 32, Godin is 33, so plenty of time for Van Dijk

His comment about not being and 18 year old who was at the top from an early age is the same for all the squad apart from Trent. I like that they’ve all had to work so hard to become top players and haven’t been stars from early on. They’ve had set backs, moved up the levels through different clubs. It really comes across with the attitude and commitment they all show.
