Harry Wilson

It appears there is no thread for this kid. Well if scoring an international goal on your 21st doesn't earn you one, nothing will.

Press and well-taken finish

Posting good numbers in a struggling Hull team as well.

5 games
3 goals
2 assists

He seems to look above whatever level he plays at so far which is a good sign. Though I don't think we've handled him particularly well despite that and am totally baffled at the lack of first team chances he's had, especially late last season when we pretty much had no wide man and were stinking the joint out going forward. Hopefully he gets a shot in pre season. He looks like a better John Barnes.

He's been on the brink for years, I hope he can be a part of the first team squad with Woodburn.

His contract runs out in the summer so this thread may have been premature.

EDIT, nope, utter bollocks

Un huh, both of these look like they can play a bit and have the tools to be first teamers. Hard to know where they fit in though, i mean Wilson has Salah in front of him FFS - Sterling would struggle as well tbf.

As for Woodburn, it seems like the bizarre decision to play him in a Coutinho role may have been because that's his most likely breakthrough position, even though he looks like a 10 to me.

Always rated Wilson. It's so ridiculously hard to make it with a top club these days, especially as an attacking player. I think he's good enough, but how does he get a chance?

Gerrard keeps reiterating that kids now need to be world class to break through at top clubs and there's something in that. I mean both Salah and KDB both didn't make it at Chelsea when they were in their early twenties (giggles). We just have to make sure we are covered with buybacks if we ever do let a prospect go. That said, it'd be nice to integrate both of these kids next year, if possible.

We need to get these lads on the pitch whenever possible so they realise there is a chance of actually getting a game. 20 minutes sub time when we are cruising.

That's something that we don't really seem to be doing at the moment. Solanke was briefly getting a bit of time like this, I would have liked to have seen Woodburn get minutes like this.

He's a lovely finisher, reminds me a little bit of Fowler. He does need a shot in the first team though next year.

Agreed. The number of times we've stuck matip, klavan or Milner on for 10 to 15 minutes when cruising when we could of put a youngster on. Only surprise surprise even with a bench of 7, clubs won't put a youngster in very often.

It's difficult as squads are so big, managers want to keep the fringe players involved.

True...as has been suggested by others on here in earlier threads, when the subs were upped from 5 to 7, it should have been mandated that the 2 new spots must go to an under-23 player. That way there would always be young blood on the bench, and if a team does find itself cruising in the final stages, a perfect opportunity to get a player some minutes under the spotlight.

If that was an FA directive it would be good, but whenever Klopp chooses to give a bench spot to kids, supporters go nuts about our lack of depth and how shit the bench is. Furthermore if said kid does get a few minutes and doesn't tear it up immediately, they fucked and confined to the scrap heap by fans ( Solanke).

Wilson, Woodburn and Brewster are some serious attacking prospects we have for next season. Not sure about Solanke though, maybe needs a season or two out on loan.

Just saw that he scored twice as Hull drew 5-5 at Bristol City

They hope to bring him back next season, that's not really surprising. If we do loan him out it will be interesting to see what we do, if we would send him to Hull where given his form this season he would likely be heavily involved, or if we try and loan him to a PL club where he might not get as much game time but would be playing at a higher level.

That Lion tattoo on his forearm is shocking

His slow transformation into a young Fernando Torres however seems a great idea.
