If other players contributed to the same level we’d be in much better shape. The fact of the matter is that he pretty much carries us as a goal scoring threat. Particularly with Virgil out our set piece threat is zero. If Mo is off form, which will happen, then nobody else steps up (particularly with Jota injured). Him being either top scorer or almost in the League each year suggests it’s not him, and stats wise if you look here his conversion rate and shots on target is higher than Harry Kane.

If he were to become even more prolific, and he has the potential to do so, we will be looking at the best forward in the history of the club. And he technically plays out wide.
fuck knows where would be this or any other season without his goals. He has carried us this season & it still absolutely baffles me how this guy is criticized.

The two other guys he plays up top with (Mane and Bobby) have had really difficult seasons as have the other two main providers of assists (Trent and Robbo), but he is still up there battling for the golden boot.

People should look at all our league games this season, then remove the goals Salah scored.

The amount of times he scores that changes a loss to a draw or a draw to a win is huge. We have no other player that scores that sort of game changing goal as often as he does over the past few season, and this season without him we would not have hit the 40 point mark yet.

I wonder if it is because he is the most capable forwards. So when things aren't happening for us and him, the player we look to is Mo. He is not going to score every time he gets the ball, but as he is always the one that shows, no matter how the game is going supporters look to him for even more.

I think some of the criticism is bizarre, the allegation that he and Mane are feuding just doesn't play out when you know both of their personalities (humble, modest, driven) and that they may 'fall out' on the pitch to me means nothing. But in general in these instances the criticism seems to be aimed more at Salah. He is a goalscorer (or has become one) the main purpose of football, his personal goals further our collective ones, and he seems hell bent on breaking records. The guy is a winner. You can see it in his attitude on the pitch, the standards he sets drive the standards in others. His hunger has taken us a long, long way, I want to see it take him and us even further.

For me he deserves all round love and praise as we would be nowhere without him. We would have no Champions League, no Premier League, he has been as pivotal a signing up front as Virgil was at the back.

I think Klopp made a mistake in giving Trent the armband earlier on in the season. yes, it should mean nothing, but Trent would have been fine not getting it. And it would have said to Mo, this is how highly we think of you (5th choice captain).

I think the team has been so fuckin good in recent years and a lot of that is because we have had leadership all over the pitch. Henderson and Virgil set the tone for a lot of that. Missing them both this season has been very hard - not just for their talent with the football but because of their leadership on the pitch too.

Not this season......maybe

But Mo is almost up on Drogba now as the most goals scored by an African player (with almost 100 less appearances) in the PL

Quote:
Drogba 254 games 104 goals.

Salah 155 games 96 goals.

Mane 226 games 93 goals
.

We are lucky to have him.

Good point.

He gets bare minimum praise, where as Drogba was always getting 'generation defining talent' praise. Mo is homing in on 3 golden boots in 4 years, and he only just missed out last year.

He looked properly engaged and happy to me last night. I absolutely love him

Not to mention the fact he racks up elite striker level stats season after season despite playing out wide.

Guy is a machine and a genuine world class talent that somehow seems to be seen by many as being a good or very good player.

He does miss chances, but so does every striker. His conversion rate and shots on target rates are also really high.

That's exactly it though. His conversion rate is so good because he does not miss as many chances as most other attackers and nearly all wingers. Is a bit of a myth that Salah misses more shots than most attackers or that he needs more chances to get a goal.

Was looking at some of his stats a few minutes ago and his conversion rate is world class.

This season in the PL, he has taken 112 shots in 34 games.

47 of those shots were on target, 33 were off target and 32 were blocked by a defender.

Of the 47 on target, 21 were goals.

In terms of other stats, he tends to have a higher % of successful passes made than most advanced attackers (he is on 84% for the league season after last night's game.), his number of tackles made and chase backs are high for an attacker, especially an attacker with such good attacking stats, and he has a 67% success rate in tackles made.

Salah love in

Quote:
JŁrgen Klopp acclaimed Mohamed Salah as a ‘real role model’ after the forward took his tally to 30 for the season by striking in Liverpool’s 4-2 win at Manchester United on Thursday.

The Egyptian marked his 200th appearance for the Reds – a number remarkably achieved in fewer than four seasons – with his 124th goal, racing clear and netting with a trademark finish to put the outcome beyond doubt at Old Trafford.

Salah is now joint-top of the Premier League goalscoring chart with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane on 21 and is firmly in contention to claim the Golden Boot for the third time in his quartet of campaigns at Anfield.

Asked during his pre-West Bromwich Albion press conference where the No.11 ranked in terms of his best ever signings, Klopp replied: “Top – absolutely top, but it is not about signing. You can sign a player but then we all are responsible, so the player [is] obviously as well and the coaches, to make it happen.

“Let me say it like this: two players, there’s Robert Lewandowski, who I signed for a different amount of money years ago – well, not years ago, but it feels like – who had an incredible development from a different level, but an incredible development.

“With Mo, from the guy who scores from time to time and is a really good football player to this goalscoring machine is a massive development.

“He is an outstanding signing, but for sure the way he developed, the way he treats himself, the game preparation, the training preparation, training attitude and all these kind of things, that’s exceptional.

“That’s a real role model and he deserves all that, absolutely.”

Wow that's some love. And shows Salah's dedication is up there with Ronaldo's for looking after himself if Klopp is calling it out. Maybe he will remain elite for 3-4 more years.

Sell him now!

Mo has been amazing since we signed him. I thought we'd never have anyone better than Fernando Torres. Then I thought that it was Luis Suarez who would never be bettered. But Mo has been on a different level altogether.

I dunno. Suarez was pretty amazing. Playing in a lesser team. Id say Suarez was actually better than Mo.

Your arguement goes back to Rush, Aldridge, Fowler and Owen... We have had an amazing knack for finding great goalscorers. I remember each time thinking how we could possibly survive without them.

That’s just it though, all of those great players and Salah’s goals per game ratio is higher than all of them. Plus he’s playing right wing.

FFS Salah 1.61 v 1.62 Suarez.
