So I'm a bit doubtful TBH.

Or else they're not contractual in which case the players can tell him to do one.

After reading Crouch's book, I'm in no doubt that players would adhere to the list and do as they're told. 19yr olds on 5m a year need rules

Agreed!

I'm merely talking about the legitimacy of the arrangement; although with footballers being famously dim, perhaps they never question the club's right (or otherwise) to claw back the cash.

It's usually given to club charities to circumvent such allegations.

Ah soz, didn't realise that. I suppose enforcing it would be difficult if they refused but chances are they'd all see it as some sort of game

Valencia missed about 5 open goals. Unbelievable last 20 mins or so.

Decent game though.

It's not like they didn't make any signings in the meantime. Kovacic and Pulisic, 110m.

They were already on loan of course.

Pulisic wasn't. And as far as Kovacic, a permanent transfer is a separate deal to having been on loan the previous season.

Yeah obviously the signings have been above board (loan with buy option + early agreement) but just saying they haven't been starved of new signings like how you would imagine a transfer ban to work. Spent more than us during their ban

I agree, you'd think a meaningful ban would've prevented them from taking up any permanent option.

I actually have a lot of sympathy for Chelsea's argument, which was they were treated differently to Man City, who just got a fine. I know the scope of the offences were different, but I think the principle is the same.

If Chelsea get a ban, why shouldn't City?

They should both get a ban and points deduction.

Wasn't Chelsea's about buying young players just to loan out as opposed overspending?

Season ticket holder in the office has been saying they need to go out and buy a decent keeper

No fucking chance! They need a few players defensively and a bit more firepower up top and now they've been let of their ban you can see them going in big this Jan window.

Would they go for Harry Wilson? He did well for Derby under Lampard.

They have Mount but I guess him and Wilson played together at Derby

I think they'll be looking at bigger more established names or players that are going to cost them some serious coin.

Sancho, Werner, Sancho and Chilwell maybe

Not sure if Chelsea are in the position to spend in that bracket. There's some uncertainty with the owner who's probably looking to balance the book and then sell off.

They've spent more than anyone last two summers with a total outlay of at least 210m (Jorginho, Kepa, Pulisic, Kovacic), so the idea that they've been held back by lack of transfers in not true.

They do need a CB for sure, but who is available in Jan that could come in and plug the gap?
