This was the risk we took not buying another CB, now we have 1 injury prone CB, one mistake prone CB and a DM who can slot in at CB who's presence in midfield is vital.

We gambled

We were and still are heavily hampered by the pandemic, we pulled off a worldy in Thiago and addressed another issue with Jota. Both deals structured heavily in our favour. Hard to be critical of not spending money we don't have.

You make it sound we could just go out there, pick and choose a centre back whoís gonna mainly be sitting on the bench most times. We didnít gamble, it was a calculated decision which even in hindsight, would work. Injuries happen and there is nothing you can fully prepare for them.

We had Lovren. He was fine as 4th choice and was happy to be so.

He wanted to leave and was close to leaving last year. We have centre back cover, they are just young an inexperienced.

I think we're going to see a lot of Fabinho in there and I'm good with that. Gini Hendo and another in midfield. We'll be OK

Why am I not surprised?

Gomez, Matip and Fabinho until January. If one of them gets injured, either Tsimikas has a go covering at CB, or our scouting department looks for potential loan deals.

He’ll likely lose a yard of pace from this too. Horrible injury.

All because of that fucking harebrained disaster of a goalkeeper.
Should never have happened.

We should be able to negotiate the CL group without him and can hopefully stay in the PL race into January.

Our fixtures until then aren't actually too bad apart from City away and Spurs, Wolves, Leicester at home

Fucking disaster, can't believe this shit. Will definitely impact him in the future as well. Sick of this shit, we should seek compensation from Everton for this. Pickford, what an absolute cunt. Fucking fuming.

I'd like to think that Matip and JoGo have learnt a lot from playing alongside him and things won't be as bad as feared. But keep Matip alongside Trent, having JoGo and Trent on the same side seems to make us weaker.

Shite. Ever-present for us in the league and only behind Pickford in that regard.

I think next summer we would be adding a £40-60 mil CB when Gini/Milner move on and Fab goes back into midfield. Hopefully we have the funds and player in mind to do it Jan.

He's a big lad, this going to effect the long term recovery? Pace was one of his biggest assets, got to be concerned about the long-term outlook. Challenges are part of the game, but to get cunted by a keeper is a sickner. Good luck virgil.

Didn't he have a similar injury before, albeit less serious? Not 100% sure you lose a yard of pace specifically due to the injury though but I know nothing.

So worse grade of ACL injury and operation, no one has mentioned how long he'll be out but it's looking like he's done for the season right?

I would say he's done for the season but seems the club are hopeful due to his injury record and strong nature that he can recover quickly, but I'd rather he recovers fully than having any timescale on his return. It's a career threatening injury and players have noticeably found it difficult to return at their level after - looking at Laporte for example.

No, donít think heís had any kind of knee injury before.

Everyone is different of course, but serious ACL injuries are famously among the most difficult for footballers to make a full recovery from.
Many footballers noticeably lose some speed and power after serious knee injuries.

And surely the fact he's so big will put further strain on the knee?

If we are not in the race to win the league when we play. Them at Anfield, I wouldn't mind seeing Robbo, Milner and Hendo properly crease their dick head players. Pickford, Richarlison and maybe Calvert. Fuckin horrible cunts
