New rules, old rules, that's a blatant handball and penalty

Saw someone say VAR actually reviewed the wrong incident and looked at one a couple of moments before that?

they looked at both, the commentators on Sky were the ones bleating on about the 2nd one (which hit his chest)

Not intentional I would agree with, with the distance between the players, but I thought there was also a "natural silhouette" to consider as well, which is arms down and close to the body, not raised like that?

its a clear pen for me, but thats where the confusion comes in to it, had the ref's been reversed & the pitch ref been the VAR & voice versa, i bet the decision would have been different. Either in game the ref would have given it & the VAR not overturned or the VAR simply overturned it......

thats why the current implementation is wrong

Thats a clear peno, the defender looks at the ball and puts his arm out, but then tucks his head away so at the moment of contact he looks like he is shielding himself.

Thatís mad because by their own criteria thatís handball (hand in unnatural position).

Decisions like that just make it look like they were at the bookies pre match.

Yeah thatís a peno. Got that wrong.

Iím still a big advocate of VAR. With it, weíd be in the next round of FA Cup and no need for this kerfuffle.

The two decisions in our game with Southampton were odd ones from VAR, surely Long(?) pulling down Bobby on the goal line when he would have a free header into an empty net is a clear pen. The Fabinho one on Ings is more subtle and it's not surprising the ref missed it in real time but I would really have expected VAR to give that as that too seemed fairly clear cut.

They desperately need a movement expert at VAR HQ.

Have a listen to this guy. Itís what weíre all seeing at but he qualifies it with concise, basic science.

To be honest tho, there are times when I've fallen playing footy and seen my opponent falling towards me and instinctively pushed out with my legs to push them away and ward of contact, not curl into a ball to avoid protect myself like he describes. Different reactions for the same scenario, not all cut and dried.

But it's Maguire, he's a big lump and plays for United, so I'm quite happy to see him come under scrutiny like this

Generally, yes, although I'm sure I recall a couple of dubious VAR decisions where it was said that the ref didn't have angles that the TV company had. Maybe they were cases when the technology played a part.

The thing is we’ve always had shit decisions. All of the ones today could have happened last year, and we’d have been talking about shit refereeing and the need for VAR.

VAR should remove the howler (such as the red card today) and it would have if the infield decision was made in association with the off-field. And the infield ref was told to check it out. The way they are doing it leaves one party completely in the dark. It’s about getting the right decision and giving authority to the ref to make that, with assistance is crucial.

I can’t say enough that they have this sorted in Rugby - clear comms between infield and on. And the VAR ref is in situ. If the money exists in Rugby then it definitely exists in football.

Also have some ex refs run VAR. This faceless ‘stockley park’ bollocks gets on my nerves. It’s not cracking the enigma code, it’s assisting refereeing.

Also. Make the fucking refs check on the monitor. The VAR should say ask tell ref to check and if they don’t they should be dropped for a few weeks.

Honestly, I’d have the whole shit show singing within a few weeks.

So, been out all day but caught the remainder of the Leicester game on the radio. Am I right that the official in Stockley Park was the same for the Spurs and Leicester games? Sounds like the guy needs to be told that this isn't the job for him. No doubt he'll get a couple of million as it's football
