Liverpool vs Norwich - Premier League (19/20 - Game 1)

Perth Time: 10th August at 3:00am

This is it!

The football league season starts here! It's fair to say we've had a fairly shit pre-season results wise but we all know that's not what it's all about - instead we've oiled the machine and are now in a position to start the crushing engine again for another successful season!

I like Norwich at the moment, they play really well but their defence is a bit naïve and they were crushed by Atalanta despite playing well - I expect our game to be the same - lots of good open play followed by some ruthless finishing from our front three - our game against City in the Community Shield showed we're on the right track.

Can't wait for this game. I feel sorry for Norwich fans having to take a day off work to attend their first game back in the Premier League. But selfishly I am happy as fuck that I don't have to wait to see the mighty reds - the Euro-fuckin-pean Champions - back in proper action.

I expect the atmosphere to be electric. It will be like a champions league semi - where it will be a bright evening but the lights needed then for the second half.

I am hoping that Norwich start playing their own brand of football. At which point we should get joy. I don't know much about them (apparently they have a couple of good young players - Max Aarons being the most potential?) but I think if we get the early goal then we should have some joy.

I'd love to see Naby start.

A team like:

----------------------------------ALISSON-----------------------------

TRENT----------MATIP-------------------------VVD-----------ROBBO

---------------------------------FABINHO------------------------------

----------------HENDERSON----------------KEITA---------------------

SALAH----------------------FIRMINO---------------------------MANE

Could fuckin kill them.

I fancy Salah to get at least 2.

No chance we throw Mane straight in. He only came back yesterday!

It's a big enough ask to start Bobby and Salah, they've not had anything like a pre-season.

Origi is a banker to start and maybe Mane few mins at end. I was actually surprised at how sharp Mo and Bobby were. Naby had no pre season either so can't see him starting.

If we play anything like we did in that second half, we'll smash them. First half though, we were lethargic.

Didn't realise Norwich haven't signed a single player.

If Salah has his shooting boots on, can see this being one of the biggest opening day victories in PL history.

Cunning plan?

Most promoted clubs splash copious amounts of cash only to be relegated. They are then saddled with a lot of expensive players to offload at a loss, on top of the loss they make going down (even with parachute payments)

Maybe its a better option to try with the players you have. If you succeed and stay up. Then you are financially good to splash some cash the next season. If not you can use the parachute payments to try and strengthen and get promoted again

I stand corrected, Sky must have said bought no new players, forgetting they bought a sub right back.

Will be a tougher match than I thought then.

Gomez or Matip to start at CB? Gomez was very good last season (before injury) and I was really impressed with Matip at the end of the season.

Did not realise they had gotten Ralf Fährmann in. Good loan signing for them. Very solid keeper for a club like Norwich.

Even if Gomez was MOTM against City, I expected Matip to start.

The position is his to lose and as much as Klopp is a fan of Gomez, I think he picked him against City due to his pace against Sterling etc. and also on a personal level as he missed out in Madrid.
