It's pretty low i think. I thought I'd read it was £35m or so but i could be wrong.

You'd hope he wouldn't be trying to match his Barca wages.

35m for him is still crazy even for a team like Villa. In reality he will have zero resale value

He is 29. That price for a 29 year old Coutinho a couple of years ago would be considered crazy good value. If Gerrard can play to his strengths that we know he has, then I think it would be considered a good deal.

They won't buy him - if he goes well I suspect someone else will want him. If he doesn't go well then they won't take it up.......... basically a free hit on both sides. Him to play regularly and be the central point of a decent side with a manager who he knows.

I suspect he will be sold much lower next season or be on loan again - he was sooooooo good for us. We got massive money at the time but I thought he'd thrive at Barca as one of the attacking 8s in a 4-3-3......... he was never given that chance. We all said he was the shoe in to replace Iniesta. A disaster for both Coutinho and Barca and a triumph for us

Villa won't pay that for an almost 30 year old - it doesn't fit with their model (maybe Ings aside) but......... they are very rich and super ambitious. Maybe a firing Coutinho for 3 years pays it back if they can make top 4. A lot depends on him and how he "feels" about this chance

But a bog standard PL player now goes for about £20m. Someone of a decent level and experience usually around £30-40m. I can see it.

The fee quoted of £35m is only one aspect though. The fact that he earns £340k per week would make the "investment" in him close to £90m for 3 years.

So unless Coutinho was willing to take a lot less cash then I personally can't see it. Unless, as Nev says, and he is unreal for Villa in the second half of this season. But if that did happen, then it is much more likely to another team would swoop in and sign him instead - someone like United or Chelsea.

Could pass that off as Rodgers quote.

Not as good as the Joe Cole doing amazing things with a tennis ball though.

Assist and goal. Pretty decent impact.

On loan absolute no brainer. He'll be loved and that's what he needs. Hasn't had it since he left us.

Assist has been revoked, last touch came off Fred unfortunately.

I’m definitely finding myself rooting for Gerrard and Villa when they’re playing sides I’m not keen on.

Snap, and let’s be honest we’ve all got one eye on him due to where his next management job is likely to be. Early days I know but he’s doing well and looks to have some real potential as a manager.

Still think it’ll be Pep Ljinders after Jurgen and then maybe SG, or SG might come in as Pep’s no2 with a view to succession. Both a long way off yet… hopefully!
