yeah, quite funny
Think comments like this from Trump will go down like a shit sarnie with his fellow pros though if he comes out with any more like that
He said: "A lot of players enjoy me losing. I don't know why, I'm not a bad person, I don't have any beef with anyone.
"I haven't got a clue [why Carter clapped sarcastically]. I'm still a lot younger than him and have done a lot better, so let's just let the snooker do the talking."

Bizarre comments from Carter though
Quote:
"He had three or four lashes in the last frame, like he'd been doing in the whole match, and got away with it.
"I don't think he realises how much luck he gets, how much he gets away with.
"You cannot keep potting balls like that and if he carries on going for them, he will be getting beat.
"I've been on too many wrong ends of matches like that and now he can feel what it feels like to have a nasty scar in his career. It's not easy to get over.
"He's a great player, has achieved more than me in the game already. He's great for the game, he's like a young Ronnie [O'Sullivan] really.
"But he's got to develop a little bit more of a personality, start slagging a few people off, and then people will love him even more I suppose."

also not great comments really, didn't see much of the match to be fair. Sounds like they both need to learn to behave

Bit of needle is a good thing in the game I think, snooker needs something, a bit of rivalry, a few controversial characters, it's gotten so dull these days!

Hendry out tonight. McGuire beats him 13 - 2.
Hendry announces his retirement after the match.
Don't think there's much doubt that he's the greatest player ever to play the game, is there?

Probably not. O'Sullivan is clearly more talented but Hendry's achievements were amazing.

I remember as a kid thinking Steve Davis would never ever be surpassed.
Hendry takes that crown. Legend.

Harsh man
I remember Spitting Image years ago....there was no picture but the commentator was going "Hendry going for the yellow....he got it! Sizing up a red now and I think he's going for the black after this"....then the camera showed Hendry squeezing spots in the mirror

An absolute legend, the greatest ever. And most probably the greatest there ever will be.
Im a massive snooker fan and one of the things i love most about the sport, is that everything is on merit. Its all based purely on ability alone. Unlike footy, if your not doing too well all you need to do is be taken over by some sugar daddy and your back at the top. If your not doing well in snooker, there is only one answer: its back to the practice table.
Also a lot of the other individual sports like tennis and golf can traditionally only be afforded to be played by the higher classes. Snooker is open to all everyone, when i was growing up in the 80's it was a real treat. I loved playing, even won a few tournaments.
Anyway back the original point, the crucible just wont be the same without Hendry.

I don't hate him or anything, he seems a decent bloke just a bit dull
Amongst his many amazing career highlights my favourite was in the 1997 Charity Challenge Trophy against Ronnie O'Sullivan. It went to a final frame decider and Hendry won with a 147 in the final frame.
He had just lost 6 frames in a row at that point too (he had been 8-2 up) which makes it all the more impressive.
I just thought that was staggeringly brilliant given the pressure he was under. I think it's one of the greatest sporting achievements I've ever witnessed. The focus on his face was something to behold (as were the spots).
I managed to find the video of it, but the quality is pure dodgy VHS

Anyway Stephen Hendry

I usually avoid betting on Ronnie but he looks unstoppable against Robertson at the moment.
Iv just stuck a fiver on hime to win it. after losing money on my early bets of Wiiliam & Trump. Hopefully il make some money back.

Yep, what an incredibly gifted bloke. Has to be one of the most naturally talented sportsmen of all time doesn't he? The way he can just switch to left handed shots...wow.

He's on form now, and the players who are left don't have what it takes to beat him IMO.

Yeah he probably will win it, but Stevens is giving him a real run for his money. The score currently stands at 12-8, after he was 11-5 down.
