I'm already warming to this new format. Good point on the extended putters, decent for defence shite for offence.

Might put myself forward as a potential pundit?

shafts would be too long, they'd bend for sure as you wrapped it around Micklesons fat head.

2 iron all the way for me with an extra stiff shaft (ooo errrr)

I'm watching the LIV thing now (its free on Youtube), and it is pure cringe so far. Mickleson also looks like he's been living rough for the last few months.

Sergio Garcia is captain of the "Fireballs" team

It's not a pub quiz FFS.

This bit is atrocious. What is the buy in? How do you get behind one of the teams? Who. Cares.

They had no choice but to do that really. Most of them had already resigned anyway.

Some of them don't even seem to be phased by possibly missing out on the Ryder Cup. Pure greed.

I'm about an hour in:

Cringy team names
A weird team format that you don't care about with pub quiz team names
A baffling leaderboard system with stupid meaningless team avatars
"Blink" time which is basically just some quick highlights.
Nauseating attempts by the commentators to constantly big up the event as something groundbreaking.

So far it is a middle aged mans attempt to come up with something the kids will think is cool.

DJ easily. DJ is one miserable fucker by the way. Honestly looks like he hates golf every time he plays. No wonder he was the first of the decent players to crack and take the dosh.

They need to bin off the little "bing" noise every time they cut to another player too. Really annoying.

I think they are trying to mimic US Sports with the leaderboard thing? It's awful.

The bit I saw had the names shortened to first name and the first three initials of the surname, so Poulter was 'I.POU'. Haven't got a clue who is who

It looks awful and makes no sense

Any excuse to roll this one out:

I just had a look out of curiousity - utter car crash isn't it

I lasted about 20 seconds.

I mean you've got to be willing to cut it some slack as it is the first ever event, but there are so many tacky, awful things about it that is hard to see how it can succeed.

I'm not sure the shotgun start actually adds anything.
I hate that you couldn't have someone go out early and post a great score.
I hate that you can't have someone have to hold onto lead under pressure (as they are all playing at the same time).
It is very weird watching someone start their round on the 18th hole

The pointless draft pick thing to pick teams (which no one cares about). It's just all baffling. I wonder what Rory and the other PGA players will think, they'll piss themselves when they watch some of it back

Because he was making a meal out of it. The ball hits him in the back or the leg The way he keels over you'd think he got nailed in the head

Brilliant. Mickelson, Westwood, DJ, McDowell, Poulter, all those cunts, must feel totally embarrassed watching this.

What an answer. I can't listen to the guys who have left talk about 'work life balance' it is so disingenuous.

He comes across very well as has Rory in all of this.

Micklelson I think is going to get a rough ride from the fans at this US Open.

I did, he's been giving it pretty short shrift up until now. I guess he's seen the number of zeros at the end of the number they've offered.

Disappointing but loads more will jump when the see the numbers being offered

Wow Morikawa would be a big disappointment. Koepka doesn't surprise me as he is a bit of a dick like Bryson.

Our Colin has said he’s not jumping ship. Hope that’s the case.

Ryder Cup will be interesting, I’m assuming if they’ve jumped ship they’ll not be eligible
