What a player Torres was and to be fair to Pepe he had a bloody good run with us for a few years as well.

For us, probably Torres. Overall, Reina by a country mile. Pepe is still starting in the CL now! I'm sure I've documented it in great detail the better part of 10 years ago but Torres didn't do much before he signed for us (just better than 1 in 3 for Atleti) and his performances were quite mediocre after he left too. Sure he won the lot at Chelsea and played a lot of games, but he didn't exactly set the world alight. His goalscoring ratio for the Spanish national team is also around 1 in 3 I believe.
I think that Rafa should be credited for creating a perfect system for him to flourish. It's no surprise for me that his only 'decent' season after leaving us was when Rafa had him at Chelsea. No one talks about it, but Torres was underwhelming under every other manager, basically all hype on either youth potential or his spell at Liverpool.
Reina's last season and a half here was bad and he needed a change of scenery. I don't think his quality is in doubt and he's shown by amounting hundreds of more appearances in Italy that he's still a really good player.

Every time Rodgers gets talked up for a big job, I can't help but think about it (even though I think he's a good manager).

We were playing terrible at the time and i think he rested some players because we had Chelsea at the weekend.
We only lost 1-0 away to R-M. Any loss is not good - but the "A-team" lost 3-0 at home.
Rodgers really spunked the Suarez cash away though

I’m out on timings I can’t recall how we were going at all during this season, or which season it was.

Which we lost. Then drew with the mighty Ludogorets and Basel, meaning we won 1 game only in that group.
Rodgers basically forefitted the Madrid game, thinking we had no chance. Gerrard talked all week about looking forward to playing in the Bernabeu, then was dropped.
It was 14/15 Buzzo, the year after finishing 2nd, when Suarez went and Super Mario joined.

It was 14/15, the season after we’d gone so close to winning the league.
Brendan’s final full season.
We’d just drawn at home to Hull and were about to go on a 3 game losing streak in the league.
The season culminated with the 6-1 defeat away to Stoke.
Rock bottom. But not long now til Jurgen Norbert Klopp was to arrive and change everything

Gerrards last game.
Should have been the end of Brendan.....but the board kept him and allowed him to spend £32m on Benteke

I think it was effectively, his backroom staff were cleared out and replaced with stopgaps. I think it was just a case of when Klopp decided he was ready.
Signing Benteke was strange under the circumstances, but then we also signed £29m Firmino who Brendan didn’t want, but Klopp was already a big fan of.

Agreed. I mean we sacked Rodgers after a draw at Everton and half of Twitter knew about it before that game and before Rodgers did. It was obvious Klopp had been lined up and we were just waiting for him.

Yep, that Everton game was on a Sunday afternoon and I remember being in the cinema on the Friday night reading on Twitter that Rodgers was gone after game regardless of the result
