Welcome to LFC Ibrahima Konate
Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old defender has agreed a long-term contract with the Reds from July 1, subject to international clearance and a successful work permit application process, after finalising terms and passing a medical.

Great to get the deal done early in the window... gives him time to settle, get some pre-season with his new team mates and learn the system. Hope he's as awesome as Virgil...

This is great news. Simply because we got it done so smoothly.
Whether it proves to be a great signing all depends on our luck with his injuries.

Good stuff.........if we get a dozen games out of him next season it'll be great going
Jurgen -
Quote:
“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to add a player of Ibrahima’s quality to our squad and he is someone I’ve admired for a long time, ever since I first became aware of his potential when he was at Sochaux,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.
“After the problems we had with injuries in the centre-half position last season, there’s no doubt it was clear it was an area of the team we needed to strengthen – but I first have to say that the job Nat, Rhys and Ozan did was incredible. Unbelievable really.
“In Ibrahima we are signing a player who will add to the quality we already have here. His physical attributes are very impressive; he is quick, he is very strong and he is dominant in the air.
“He comes to us after playing more than 90 times for Leipzig in the Bundesliga and European football. I’m sure that number would have been more but for some injury, but even so that means he already has experience of what it takes to compete in two outstandingly difficult competitions.
“He also played for a team in the Champions League in high-pressure matches, who have a similar football vision to ourselves.
“I am confident we are signing a player who can play for us right away, but he is a boy of 22 years of age who has room to improve because of his massive potential. I know that’s something he is eager to work on with us to become an even better player.
“For me, that’s really exciting because I have seen how good he is already and I’m looking forward to working with him when he joins up with us in pre-season.”

Looks like he's got all the attributes needed to potentially make it to the top: 6ft 4, strong, fast, good in the air, good ball carrier and good passer.
If he has the positional game and the mentality then he should be a big success. I'm sure playing next to a fully-fit VVD will help with all that too!

He has a bit of aggression to his play too which is no bad thing at the back.

Some of those slide tackles are going to leave us with twitching sphincters
Hopefully he can tidy that up with Virg guiding him.

Can't pretend to have watched many (any) of his games but his YouTube highlights reminds me of Lovren Quick to hit the ground.

Fun fact on Konate:
He's is one of seven brothers and learned his trade playing with his siblings on the streets of Paris. Nicknamed 'Ibu' by his mum at an early age, the name has stuck to this day. "The boys sometimes have a laugh with it and call me 'Ibuprofen'," Konate said.
Great banter lads

Obvious we wanted him back in January but Leipzig weren't for selling at that point in the season.

He also said he always like the club a lot and thought we were the biggest club in England;

Wasn't that arsed about this...
Until now that we have signed him If he stays fit then it sounds like he is a massive prospect.

I think the social media team are being creative.
Presumably he’s with the France U21 squad and we’ll get all the usual content when he joins up after their tournament.

If the medical team can keep this guy fit and he's as good as some journos are saying then yet another cracking signing from Klopp.
Just hope he's not Wee Joe Keita v.2

Read the very top of the thread, It’s a done deal
The 22-year-old defender has agreed a long-term contract with the Reds from July 1, subject to international clearance and a successful work permit application process, after finalising terms and passing a medical.
