This all stinks of City trying to apply pressure or get something sorted out, away from public view (i.e. before UEFA have made and announced a decision that they would find it difficult to go back on). It feels like there is something (else) dodgy going on here, I just hope UEFA don't fall for it.

That's the kind of shit that could be twisted about and taken into account.
All because they (more than likely) essentially violated the rules set by a private sporting group for their private sporting competition.
Fuck em out for good if you ask me, and then the FA should be obligated to review City's parameters for meeting their own guidelines.
|
Then players are free to sue the club for putting them in this position.
UEFA set and enforce the rules, it's up to clubs to follow them.

Wouldn't put it past City to argue that......again, playing the poor mouth.
Anything to make it appear that they're just a football club trying to get by in the modern times.

CAS is the Court for Sporting Arbitration
Its essentially the high court of football
The first port of call after any UEFA sanciton is CAS

Not sure this would work, I assume any appeal would have to offer evidence that the investigation was flawed and came to incorrect conclusions

CAS can only take on an appeal against a decision made by a governing body once the governing body's own processes have been exhausted.
The first port of call after any UEFA sanction is to appeal to UEFA.

Also wasn't there some threat that if you went above UEFA to the CAS, you're effectively disqualifying yourself (as a club) from UEFA registrations/competitions etc?

Now I'm no legal eagle... but having watched enough of these court room dramas, US dramas, A Few Good Men, etc... a good lawyer will just take the exact opposite stance to what they're taking...
i.e. if they are claiming they would 100% be penalised by the enforcement of a European ban, loss of earnings, player values, etc... then surely they are saying that they are currently deliberately and falsely benefiting from much higher revenues, higher player wages, more attractive club status, inflated player values due to breaching the rules and becoming more appealing and successful as a result...
I rest my case.

I thought if an appeal to the CAS fails, then Uefa have the right to increase any punishment.
Fact is City are a nothing team with no support and a shallow global profile. They are no Madrid... No PSG... No Bayern... not even the biggest team in Manchester.
Who would really miss them from Europe?
The only likely support they will have is from other sides who have done the dirty on ffp.

This was my thinking as well hence the post, the decision hasn't been made never mind going through the UEFA appeals process.

CAS' repsonse -
Quote:
Cas said in a statement: "The appeal is filed against decisions taken by the Investigatory Chamber of the Uefa Club Financial Control Body regarding [the club's] alleged non-compliance with Uefa's Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.
"An arbitration procedure will now be initiated and will involve an exchange of written submissions between the parties while a panel of Cas arbitrators is convened to hear the appeal."

This will be a right stitch up with the owners a paying off the leaches.
How can there be an investigation and arbitration before uefa have even held their own investigation. Smells like shit.

As I said before it makes no sense for an appeal to be going on when the decision hasn't been announced, it seems like there is something dodgy going on whereby they can agree something behind the scenes before anything is announced.

But it's safe to say that if they were innocent they wouldn't see fit to appeal the charge. Fry them!

How would that affect their ffp without CL income?
It about 100 million, isnt it? A fith of their overall revenue.
Be interesting to see what they do next. City seem to be in denial at the moment.
Be nice when they realise they have to start flogging their most expensive stars.
Be even nicer if this happened for next season.

That’s right but they would still need to meet the Ffp obligations in 20-21, when they come back into the competition. So without this £50-75m, it will be harder for them to comply with ffp

Match-fixing and not balancing the books to be fair are two very different things. I will take a 1-year ban with a 5-year ban suspended for 3 years if there are any more illegalities

I mean the bigger issue is not City but Football as a whole. Anybody who follows the game outside of their own club knows there is a ridiculous amount of corruption in the game with very little oversight.
The entire sport needs an overhaul and one thing Liverpool fans have been very good at over the years is pushing their agenda. FFP effects us I would argue the most. We did everything right or mostly everything right. We got the smartest people, ran a great plan and executed it perfectly. But all of that amounts to a hill of beans if some Oil-rich Saudi can just fart a billion dollars and effectively throw endless money at it. The sport will be ruined. At least United made their endless supply of money.
I want City nailed just for the sake of the sport, not for our own benefit.
