Very good game.

High tempo going back and forth. Thought Arsenal deserved to go to the next round but they were very fortunate.

Varmaelen again was MOM for me but Szczesny (great penatly save), Gervinho and Walcott had pretty good games.

I was told last night by an Arsenal fan who was also calling for Wenger to go that "Dalglish is not even close to being as good a manager as Roy Hodgson" whilst laughing I had to walk away!

I did ask him who would you replace Wenger with - and now I've slept on it the obvious answer is Hodgson - better than Kenny FFS!

Kenny doesn't have the 35/36 year experience that Hodgson has.

21m for M'Vila? Not really seen much of him, but that's quite a lot isn't it? Is he that good?

Ignore what we've been spending on players when answering the question.

Was that the England game? That's the only time I've seen him too as far as I know, and I couldn't honestly say I noticed him much.

He was certainly no Frimpong.

I honestly think a good CB and a defensive midfielder willing to sit in front of their back four would be worth ~40m to the Arsenal team. Not sure whether M'Vila can be one of those players but I don't think the value of the transaction would necessarily be in the price paid for the individual. Over the years Fergusson has shown that it is worth paying a premium for a player who provides what the team needs.

I thought most people on here really rated him and wanted us to sign him at the end of last season/start of the summer ...despite the fact that most of us probably haven't seen that much of him

He is good but not good for that type of money.

What surprises me is that he is completely defensive minded midfielder and they already have Song and now Frimpong (I like him) to cover that position.

Vermaelen has got a knock and is doubtful for the weekend.

If he is out then they might as well not bother traveling to Utd on Sunday

They don't cover it though. Both leave the space in front of the back four too exposed by running forward and getting involved in play. A disciplined DM would make a massive difference for Arsenal.

They're one of the few teams who don't roll over for the Scum, so no matter who plays for Arsenal on Sunday they will at least go for the Scum...

Coyle confirms Arsenal bid for Gary Cahill.

Apparently they've bid 6m

Not only does Nasri look like a raging lezza, he also sounds like one.

Vermaelen is a big loss to them. He's Arsenal's Agger - class when fit but isn't hardly ever available.

United will stick three past them this weekend.

I just expect them to get over run in midfield and now have defensive problems if Vermaelen is out

They are without Song, Gervinho, Frimpong, and Wilshere, in midfield, the could line up with Ramsey, Lansbury and Rosicky in CM

An untried full back who is likely to get torn up by either Nani or Young

And Howard Webb is reffing

I would love them to get something but cant see it

I think they will score more than four 7,8 - 0 isn't impossible. Can see Scum getting at least one penalty and Arsenal at least one player sent off.

I think it will be a better match than most anticipate - key is whether Arsenal try and attack down the wings, like they did against us, which I think will be ineffective (as it was last weekend) or try and me more direct centrally. United's CMs are defensively suspect and I think teams who look to exploit that will prosper (albeit they might have to do very un-Arsenal things like shoot from the edge of the box rather than tippy tapping the ball around the D pointlessly).

I agree. Don't think it will be as one sided as people expect. Mancs will probably win but there won't be much in it.

There arent many teams who go to OT with the capability and the willingness to actually win - Arsenal are one of them.

Someone told me they are 6/1 - worth a tenner.
