They are 100% going down. Most of their fans acknowledge he is the reason they are still in the Prem.

Rafa deserves better then that treatment from the club. Fans seemed to love him, which isnt a surprise.

Id honestly love him at Liverpool in some capacity once his front like managerial career is over. Hes too much a part of the club to ignore it.

Rafa as DoF, gerrard as manager. In five years, once klopp has won us the league five times.

They offered him a one year contract and no assurances.

I suspect it'll be pretty toxic there soon enough.

That and i thought Ed Woodward would have enough on his plate.

It's mad to think that two of the biggest clubs in the country could be managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Frank Lampard, while Rafa is out of a job.

I suppose they could only really do that given they are trying to sell the club. There's no way Rafa should be treated like that or accept that though.

Why? On a hiding to nothing there imo. They haven't got a lot of money and their best players were all loanees who have gone back. Tough gig that one imo Rafa can do a lot better

I agree they dont have a lot of money. But they optimise their finances with loan deals (no capital outlay) So Rafa could basically loan in players he wants. They were close to getting into the PL last season with a manager with absolutely no experience. Rafa seems to be very settled in the UK. Yes he could do better, but who of the better teams is likely to take him? Like you say its a tough gig, yes, but Rafa likes a fair challenge

He'll probably keep himself available, and see how Arsenal do this season, Spurs at the end of the season, and anything that else that may crop up.

He'll be 60 next April, so his next job has to be the right one IMO.

Really didn't expect him to make a move like that but can't say I'd judge him badly for it. It's a shame - I'm sure he could have got a decent project in Europe.

He's saving up to buy Tranmere Rovers.

Then he can walk to work and have meetings with himself about who he is allowed to sign.

He, quite rightly, moaned about wanting a project at Newcastle. Then instead he takes charge of some unknown in Asia?

I love Rafa, and can't begrudge him a big payday, but surely he had better options available?

I guess he didn't fancy staying out of the game for too long, and assess his options in 6 months-1 year's time.

It's a massive payday too. I know he doesn't need the money, but it's a free hit for him. It was either reject a 12million offer to take a sabbatical, or take it, experience another culture, stay in the game, and see what big jobs come up next season.
