Leyton Stewart timed his run well, took the pass from Corness and lamps it in. Finished with the confidence of young man who's hair line almost meets his eyebrows, a la Gerrard.

Wolves 0-1 Liverpool

The commentator: "one of the young Poles, Muscleovsky, getting stronger every day". Didn't miss a beat either.

Another save from Stewart who headed on a delightful pass from Dominic "Corners" Corness, who takes the subsequent corner. Apparently his real nickname is The Wand because he "can open a tin of beans with his left foot". Why would you open a tin of beans with a wand though?

As I witter Stewart breaks down the right, and passes it across the face of goal, Frauendorf just can't get to it.

Whit Waltman should have scored there after good work by Stewart down the left, fires just wide.

Bradley makes a great run down the right, crossing for Stewart who just has the ball nicked away from him by Wolves' Odjeknacker. Close.

Ooh, good work from Morton into Frauendorf who does well to flash the ball across goal, Stewart nearly gets there. Nice interaction between the front players at the moment.

Wolves have a decent attack, Hognett drawing a save from Ojrzynski, who I will name Oj from now on. Half time and we lead by a goal.

So close to a second, Morton spins in midfield and feeds Stewart who forces a good save ffrom the keeper. Stewart is a menace, and absolutely menace.

Another good attack from Wolves but Oj tips it over well. Under a bit of pressure here.

Wow, Morton loops a lovely cross in from the right, Stewart gets up magnficently and gets a lot of power in the header but the Wolves keeper gets a great reaction save in and puts it over.

Stevenson, the very homunculus of David Burrows, goes down injured for some time but comes back on.

He then tries to defend a Wolves shot by saving it on the goal-line a la Suarez in the world cup. He gets a red card for his efforts and Wolves have a penalty.

Corness shoots straight at the keeper with his right foot (nicknamed "the whisk") on the volley. We're still attacking here.

Bradley should have scored there after good link up by Cannonier but shoots straight at the keeper. From the resulting corner, taken naturally by Dom Corners Corness we nearly score but get another corner. Again, last ditch defending by Wolves who break with Jonas but it comes to nothing. Last 10 minutes now, the kids' legs are getting a bit wobbly, all going a bit madhouse and fractious.

Super pass forward by Tyler "The Cardinal" Morton and Waltman's shot is blocked. Corner! Cleared for another corner which comes to nought.

Wilson - who clearly has never been to a barber unaccompanied - gets a yellow for a cynical foul on the halfway line but on the bright side he stopped a promising Wolves break in its tracks.

And there, RIGHT AT THE DEATH, Wolves run up the pitch, Oj fumbles the shot and lets it squirt through his hands and it's in the back of the net. The team look devastated but that's football. Out of nothing we lose it right at the end. There are a few trembling lips out there now, a sudden realisation that life can be so unfair and they didn't ask to be born.

Gutting. Wolves 2-1 Liverpool

It's all over. A penalty, red card and late night keeping error frustrates the youngsters but they've go their whole lives to get over it.

Again, Stewart looked the part, nice work from Corness and Morton, Muscleovski came on with a decent cameo and apart from the Pickford Oj actually had a good game.

Finishes Wolves 2-1 Liverpoo

United on top here, putting on the pressure at the start of the second half.

Too many long balls from us here, the defence bypassing the midfield and relying on the pace of Layton Stewart, to no great effect, and it keeps coming back. A few Utd corners in succession.

but HANG ON! Having said that a long ball from Tyler Morton over the top is controlled well on the sprint by Layton Stuart, under pressure, who slots its across the keeper into the far corner. Long balls ftw!

Layton Stuart by the way joined the academy at the age of five. Five. Imagine every time he goes to a new school or meets someone new and they say "what are you doing on Saturday?" and he says "I'm playing for Liverpool.". Cock of the walk at the age of five. Got to go to your head that. Going to be an alcoholic by the age of 21 that lad, mark my words.

and as I type Stuart has had 2 more chances to level the score, one saved after a good pass by Balagizi and another from a corner. Putting the pressure on now.

AND IT'S ANOTHER. The Utd keeper, Butterfingers Bill, let a wicked in-swinging corner from Dominic Corners Corness, drop out of his hands and Tyler On Me 'Ed Morton heads it home from close range.

Man Utd 2-2 Liverpool

Edit: Apparently the keeper is called Vitek, not Bill.

madhouse now, going for a third we lose the ball and Frauendorf, playing at right back today, is exposed on the counter. Just wide for Utd after last ditch defending. End to end, bonkers, and we haven't had the obligatory red card yet.

Whit Waltman with a shot from the right hand side of the box and it's pushed out wide by the keeper for a corner. Both teams are breaking well, and Frauendorf does well to stop another attack in the box.

WHAT A GOAL! Musselovsky dances like Nijinski through pretty much the entire Utd defence and pops a doddler across goal for Layton Stuart to slot home right into the corner with aplomb. Magical stuff.

Charlie Savage, the son of Robbie, comes on for Utd, straight into the midfield. He must be hard as nails, like a boy named Sue.

And a long range, vicious short from Utd is saved by the keeper but Emeran scores on the rebound from what looked suspiciously like an offside position but it's given.

Morton off and Stevenson on, and Harvey Blair is on for Waltman. Some top names on show here today. Harvey Blair sports a lovely mane as well which will allow for many rhyming slang delights.

United have been getting back into it in the last 5 minutes. Both teams chasing a winner in the last 10 minutes.

Oh dear lord, what a chance, Musselovsky again twinkles his way through the defence and pulls a lovely low hard cross across the box. Stevenson should have just tapped it in but rockets it up and into the car park from a couple of yards out. He's just come on so probably wasn't quite on his toes.

Ok, we have a free kick just outside the box, slightly to right, after Balagizi earns it well. Deep into stoppage time......

and Corness hits it straight at the vaseline gloves Vitek who holds it well this time. A couple of corners for us right at the end.
