Former Everton striker and current assistant boss Duncan Ferguson wants to be considered for the permanent manager's job at Goodison Park following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti. (Mail)

remember when he celebrated winning at anfield against a hugely depleted Liverpool - as if they won the champions league or something......

He'd be perfect for them

Yeah I read that earlier, 4 words you never expect to hear in the same sentence "Real Madrid's Duncan Ferguson" Supposedly didn't take it because he wants the Everton job, a load of Blues I know what him to get it.

Stage 7 already and he hasn't been appointed yet. Graeme is ahead of the curve.

Rumours of Benitez in consideration for the Everton job?...Hope he doesn't take it as they don't deserve him...They'll ruin him if it doesn't work out as them fans will be looking for a fast start from him otherwise they'll get on his back with his LFC background/history

Yeah I hope Rafa doesn’t take it either as it’d feel weird wanting him / his team to get relegated . Prefer him to go to a Crewe or Tranmere & bring them up rather than a shit club like Ev

That would be as toxic an appointment for him as Real Madrid, Chelsea and the back end of his time with us. He's a pugnacious fucker though Rafa, he definitely gets off on the combat

if rafa went in there, he'd be all smiles at first.....delighted to be back in the premier league etc

There would be questions / focus on his comments about Everton when he was LFC manager and he would bat them off with something along the lines of how he would always focus for his club etc.

But by day 3, he would be dropping snippets about Brands and he'd get him chopped

Everton fans would hate him but he'd actually be a brilliant appointment for them. I could see him bringing yer man Calvert-Lewin to a brilliant standard. Like he did with the likes of Mista and Torres.

He would be stupid to take it. Potential to damage relations with Liverpool fans but moret han that he must know how quickly they will be on his back - especially so as an ex-red

Size of his coaching staff apparently. Too costly to sack them all after he does shite.

Be interesting to see what happens to Everton as they have slightly higher resources than CP but with a way higher expectation amongst fan base.

Will they bankrupt themselves on lightweight Portuguese players and extortionate agent fees?

In fairness they are doing a good job to bankrupt themselves anyway - the Portuguese strategy at Wolves is driven by the Chinese owning group (Fosun) and their ties to Mendes. That will continue even after Nuno has left
